To find your iPhone's age, get the serial number from Settings > General > About, then enter it at Apple's checkcoverage.apple.com support page to see its warranty/activation date, or search online for your specific model's release date; the "First Use" date in Battery Health (for newer models) also shows activation.
Tap General > About > Serial Number. The fourth character in your serial number will tell you the year your iPhone was manufactured.
Go to Settings › General › About and tap Coverage. iOS lists “Limited Warranty” or “AppleCare” with an expiration date. Subtract one year from the expiration, and you get your activation date. For instance, if coverage ends on 12 July 2025, the phone was first switched on 12 July 2024.
Step 1: Check Your iPhone Model Number
See iPhone or iPad's manufacture date in Settings
Open the Settings app and tap Battery. Tap Battery Health. See the Manufacture Date to know when this device's battery was manufactured.
To Determine Manufacture Date Based on Serial Number: The 1st three numbers of your serial number will always provide your manufacture date. The 1st number is the YEAR of manufacture; the 2nd & 3rd numbers indicate the MONTH of manufacture.
The original "Find My iPhone" app was announced on June 10, 2009, and released in June 2010 alongside iPhone OS 3. At the time, it required a paid subscription to Apple's MobileMe service. It was made free of charge with the iOS 4.2.1 update on November 22, 2010, but only for devices introduced in 2010.
The simplest is About This Mac, available by choosing About This Mac from the Apple menu in the upper-left corner of your screen. The other is the System Information app. Learn how to use these tools to identify your Mac.
Call Forwarding: Type *#21# to view whether call forwarding is enabled or type ##002# to disable call forwarding.
Method 2 – Look on your device
If you can't check your settings because the phone is locked, or the screen is broken, you can check on the device itself. On recent iPhones (iPhone 8 and above) the model number is visible inside the SIM card slot. You'll need to remove the SIM card to view the model.
Your original sales receipt or invoice should indicate when you bought your phone. Likewise, if you purchased it online, the email you received will usually contain this information.
iPhones generally last four years or more without any major issues. But unless you have a pressing need or a lot of disposable income, upgrading every year is just contributing to unnecessary waste — and let's be honest, it adds to the growing carbon footprint we should all be more mindful of.
Via Find My Device Service
You must be logged in with a Google account. Select your device from the list. Then click the Settings (gear) icon. You'll find the activation date of your Android phone, tablet, or Wear OS watch mentioned next to the “First Registered” section.
Call barring allows you to block certain types of incoming or outgoing calls. Dialing *#33# displays your device's current call barring status. If you're receiving excessive spam calls, enabling call barring can help prevent unwanted calls, including those from potential hackers.
Field Test Mode for Apple iPhone devices
To enter Field Test Mode on an Apple iPhone, dial *3001#12345#* . Anyone can write up a quick “do this” blog, but at Celona, we're going to take it a bit further in the detail to help you get the most value from the Apple Field Test Mode.
Model Number on the Back: Look on the back cover. Most iPhones before the iPhone 8 have a model number printed ('AXXXX'). Google that number, and voilà, you've got your iPhone model.
How Old Is My iPhone? (8, X, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 & 16e)
An iPhone reaching the $2,000 price point is now a reality, specifically with the iPhone 17 Pro Max 2TB variant, targeting power users needing massive storage for professional content creation, though standard iPhones remain much cheaper, with base models in the $1,000-$1,200 range. The original 2007 iPhone launched at $499 (4GB) and $599 (8GB) on contract, making the current high-end models significantly pricier, especially for those seeking top-tier features and storage.
iPhones have sold for over $100,000, primarily factory-sealed, first-generation 4GB models from 2007, considered "Holy Grail" collectibles due to extreme rarity, with one selling for nearly $200,000 in 2023. Luxury customized versions by companies like Caviar, featuring gold and diamonds (like the iPhone 11 Pro), also reach this price point, but the highest values are for original, unopened iPhones.
