In Genesis 6:3, God stated humanity's days would be 120 years, though interpretations vary: some see it as a limit on divine patience before the Flood, a period for repentance, while others view it as a general lifespan limit, though many biblical figures lived longer. The passage often signifies God's reduced patience with human corruption, setting a timeframe for judgment, not necessarily a strict biological cap for everyone, as people lived much longer before this, notes Answers in Genesis and Verse by Verse Ministry.
Psalms 90:10 New King James Version (NKJV)
The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
So in the second half of v. 3, the Lord sets a limit on His patience. He declares mankind's existence on earth (under these circumstances) will be limited to 120 years. God was not speaking of a single person's lifespan but of the time until the flood would come.
Human lifespan of 120 years
This is the way many versions of the Bible are translated, and of course the meaning you have taken from the passage. But as you say, there are several people recorded in the Bible that have lived longer than 120 years since then.
Genesis 6:3 "My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years." This is clearly indicating an upper limit. Perhaps a rough upper limit as hisroically many societies count years diffetently from eachother, but still a good approximate maximum.
A majority of biblical commentators hold that the 120 years referred to in this verse refers to the time God granted to the godless people who lived during the time of Noah to repent from their sins and be saved, and that it is not about human lifespans at all.

John 11:25-27 New Living Translation (NLT)
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.
Jesus speaks of forgiveness beyond what anyone had ever considered before: seventy times seven! Many commentaries understand this to mean that Jesus was telling Peter that he should forgive his brother a limitless number of times.
The extraordinarily long lives of Adam's descendants served the purpose of God's mercy, as did the shortening of man's life. God shortened man's lifespan so that we may hope in His mercy and long for His promised redemption in Christ.
Concerning the age of the Earth, the Bible's genealogical records combined with the Genesis 1 account of creation are used to estimate an age for the Earth and universe of about 6000 years, with a bit of uncertainty on the completeness of the genealogical records, allowing for a few thousand years more.
While the population can expect to live longer lives on average, the human lifespan might have a cap. Scientists believe that the human lifespan could be anywhere from 120-150 years long, but not longer than that, due to accumulating hallmarks of aging and chronic disease.
70 Years of Babylonian Exile after the Jews were expelled from the Land of Israel and Jerusalem, according to the book of Jeremiah 29:10 The exile formally ended in 538 BCE, when Cyrus the Great, the Persian conqueror of Babylonia, in his first year of reign, gave the Jews permission to return to Palestine and decreed ...
'Three score and ten' is the nominal span of a human life. In the days that this expression was coined that span was considered to be seventy years. Threescore used to be used for sixty, in the way that we still use a dozen for twelve, and (occasionally) score for twenty.
In Ps 91:16, He promises you that with long life He will satisfy you, and show you His salvation. This means that God promises you not just long life, but also a satisfying one full of His goodness, wholeness and peace! In the verse, the word “salvation” is the Hebrew word Yeshua, the name of Jesus.
We know that Jesus said we won't be married in heaven. But that does not mean we won't have rich, meaningful, intimate relationship with each other in heaven. Certainly we will.
ESV The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.
Only Two Things. Do you realize there are only two eternal things on earth today? Only two: people and God's Word.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY. The Holy Spirit has revealed through prophetic vision that in November 2025, world leaders led by Pope Leo XIV will declare a false sense of "peace and safety" as foretold in 1 Thessalonians 5:3.
Many Christians around the world annually celebrate Epiphany on January 6. It is a public holiday in many countries and marks two events in Jesus Christ's life, according to the Christian Bible. The first event was when the three wise men, or kings, visited infant Jesus.
There's no exact date for Jesus' birth in the Bible, but most scholars estimate it was between 6 BC and 4 BC, linked to King Herod the Great's reign, with some theories pointing to late September/early October (around the Jewish feast of Sukkot) or even earlier in 7 BC, while December 25th became the established Christian celebration much later.
So there will be no rapture on the Feast of Trumpets this year 2025. It won't happen since Sept 23-24 can't be after the tribulation, which hasn't even started yet. Even Jonathan Cahn is saying it could happen, it might happen. No, absolutely not.
To fulfill prophecy and promises First of all, Jesus specifically said He would return—and He must be true to His word. He told His disciples, “I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:3).
Pope Leo went to the threshold of the Holy Door and pulled each side shut. The door will be sealed until the next Holy Year, which is likely to be 2033, the 2000th anniversary of the death and resurrection of Jesus.
