There are eight belts in Taekwondo, the first being white, which you receive when you commence training. The following belts are yellow, blue, red, red/black, Cho Dan Bo, black/white and black belt. On each of the colour belts you wear stripes indicating your level of attainment on that belt.

You must also be able to defend against holds, clubs, knives and unarmed opponents, as well as break two three-inch boards with any kick or blow.
The 10th Degree is only awarded to those martial artists who have given a lifetime to the furtherance of the martial arts and have demonstrated a lifetime of significant achievement.
Tae Kwon Do (3-5 Years)
A student can earn a black belt in Tae Kwon Do faster than in any other form of the martial arts. Black belts in Tae Kwon Do are achieved in degrees, with the practitioner able to earn the first-degree black belt within three to five years.
Dobok is the uniform worn by practitioners of Korean martial arts. Do means "way" and bok means "clothing".
The average duration can differ when it comes to various types of martial arts. The longest time taken to earn a first degree black belt is 27 years while the shortest training period recorded was 4 years. In taekwondo competitions -such like in the Olympics – punches are allowed to be thrown but not to the face. Again, fighters don't use punches much because landing one to the body only give you one point, where kicks can give you several.
The World Taekwondo Federation was established on May 28, 1973, at its inaugural meeting held at the Kukkiwon with participation of 35 representatives from around the world. As of April 2022 there are 212 member nations.
Norris has received many black belts. These include a 10th degree black belt in Chun Kuk Do, a 9th degree black belt in Tang Soo Do, an 8th degree black belt in Taekwondo, a 5th degree black belt in Karate, a 3rd degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu from the Machado family, and a black belt in Judo.
There are three levels of Brown Belt and twelve degrees of Black Belt. The 12th degree Black Belt represents the system's Great Grand Master, Frederick J. Villari.
Is there a 15th-degree black belt? Great Grandmaster Villari is a 15th-degree black belt, the highest rank one can attain in a martial art, and is the founder of the Shaolin Kempo Karate system – an innovative approach that combined Japanese martial arts with Chinese martial arts and Western boxing.

Recommended Black Belt is the final belt before a student earns their black belt. As mentioned in the white belt description, the darker a student's belt, the more experience they have. Recommended Black Belts are half red and half black indicating that a student is extremely close to Black Belt.
Usually, the black belt is the highest in martial arts. But, in a few skills, including Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Karate, the red belt is reserved for exemplary masters of the art and is above the black belt.
For most taekwondo federations and associations, Weapons Training is not a formal part of the curriculum. Many individual schools, however, will incorporate some weapons training into their syllabus. ATA Taekwondo schools, for example, often incorporate weapons training.
The main difference between ITF and WTF Taekwondo is that ITF serves as an institution where students may learn the art of Taekwondo and WT (formerly WTF) is a Taekwondo governing body that focuses on rules and regulations of Taekwondo competitions.
The International Olympic Committee recognized the WTF and taekwondo sparring in 1980. For this reason, Kukkiwon-style taekwondo is sometimes referred to as Sport-style taekwondo, Olympic-style taekwondo, or WTF-style taekwondo, though technically the style itself is defined by the Kukkiwon, not the WTF.
