Paramount+ announced that legendary actors Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren will join the Yellowstone universe in the cast of 1923. Ford will play Jacob Dutton, the patriarch of the Yellowstone ranch and great-great-grand-uncle of John Dutton.

He is the brother of John Sr. and Elsa, though Elsa died before Spencer was born. Spencer is the uncle of Jack and the nephew of Jacob and Cara.
But returning savior nephew Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar) displays his killer instinct in the Paramount+ "Yellowstone" prequel. In the finale, Spencer wins a sword duel on yet another ship trying to return home to his embattled Montana family.

Ford, in his first major television role, plays Jacob Dutton, who is the brother of James Dutton (Tim McGraw from “1883”). He is the patriarch of the Yellowstone Ranch, which we will come to know (and love) in “Yellowstone.”
This patrilineal bloodline ends with Tate Dutton. (Jamie Dutton's child is, at least by name, also the youngest progeny of this family.) Tate also represents the seventh generation of Dutton, which is important. We'll explain that later.

Jacob Dutton is the proprietor of the Dutton Yellowstone Ranch after the death of his younger brother, James Dutton (1883's Tim McGraw). Jacob becomes a father figure to James' sons, John and Spencer, and oversees the Dutton's legacy throughout Prohibition and the Great Depression.

Elsa Dutton - John's great aunt
Elsa is the sister of John Dutton Senior, but her relationship with Costner's character is more complicated. As John Dutton Junior came into the mix, Elsa is Costner's character's great aunt.
In a stunning twist, Elsa decides that she will not make the rest of the journey to Oregon, opting to stay with Sam, marry him and make a life together. It's a decision that garners a great deal of pushback from James and especially Margaret (Faith Hill), who is not ready to relinquish control over her daughter yet.
