If you want your man to respect you more, then own up to your mistakes and change the way you act. This will show him that you're willing to work toward a better relationship with him, and he'll be happy to have a partner that's willing to put in the effort. Don't make excuses for your behavior.

A man deeply needs the woman in his life to respect his knowledge, opinions, and decisions—what I would call his judgment. Many men feel like their wives question their knowledge or argue with their decisions all the time.
Reasons men disrespect women could be: They have self-esteem issues, which makes them want to feel powerful in the relationship. They feel jealous and insecure, which makes them try to dominate the situation. They don't want to be hurt, so they try to control you and make you do what they want.

Use I-focused language so that the other person does not feel accused. For example, “I feel very disrespected when you speak to me in that tone of voice.”
