Tap the Chat icon, then tap a conversation. Tap and hold the message you want to delete. Tap "Delete", then "Delete" again. The Snap will be deleted when the recipient navigates away from the chat page.
The sender of the Snap still maintains control. The sender is able to delete Snaps that they have sent to Chat that are subsequently saved in Chat. Senders can delete saved Snaps by pressing and holding the Snap in question within Chat and clicking 'Delete.
When you block someone on Snapchat, that user will still be able to see messages saved in the chat. You won't be able to view those saved messages after blocking them, since they'll be removed from your chat and friends list.

On our end, that means most messages - like Snaps and Chats - sent in Snapchat will be automatically deleted by default from our servers after we detect they've been opened by all recipients or have expired, unless you've changed your default settings or decided to save something.
