To play a video in mini-view (Picture-in-Picture), enable the setting in your device's system or the app, then start a video and exit the app or use a shortcut like the 'back' button (Android) or swiping up (iOS) to make it float in a small window, letting you multitask. For YouTube on desktop, right-click the video and select 'Miniplayer' or use the I key shortcut.
To use picture-in-picture (PiP), exit the YouTube app while a video is playing. If you have the PiP setting turned on, the video will shrink into a PiP window. The PiP window can be dragged to different parts of the screen, allowing playback to continue on top of other apps.
Check File Size and Format: Google Slides might have limitations on video file size and format. Refer to Google's documentation for supported formats and size restrictions.
Steps:
With the Miniplayer, you can continue to watch videos, including playlists and livestreams, while you browse YouTube.
Floating Video Player for Youtube™ Videos allows you to watch videos while browsing the web with Picture-in-Picture mode. Watch videos in a floating window while browsing other sites and applications with our software extension.
To play YouTube in the background, use the YouTube Premium subscription for seamless app/screen-off playback, or use workarounds like accessing YouTube in a mobile browser (Chrome, Safari) and requesting the "desktop site" to get background audio when you exit the browser, or enable Picture-in-Picture (PiP) on Android/iOS for a floating window while multitasking.
Open YouTube in your browser, start playing the desired video, and right-click on the video twice to open the extended menu. Select 'Picture-in-Picture' mode to minimize the video into a floating window that stays visible while you switch tabs.
Picture-in-Picture (PiP) allows you to watch videos in a floating window (always on top of other windows) so you can keep an eye on what you're watching while interacting with other sites, or applications.
If you don't see the mini player, you may need to enable it on your device or app permissions.
To change your YouTube layout back to normal, the easiest way for a temporary fix is to visit youtube.com/new and select the "Turn off" button if you opted into a new design, but for persistent changes, use a browser extension like CustomTube or YouTube Redux (available in the Chrome Web Store for Chrome/Edge/Firefox) to restore older layouts and features by installing the extension and selecting your preferred year/style.
Start the Miniplayer
While watching a video, right click on the video and choose Miniplayer from the menu to get started. When you click it, you'll go back to the page you were just browsing.
To use picture-in-picture (PiP), exit the YouTube app while a video is playing. If you have the PiP setting turned on, the video will shrink into a PiP window. The PiP window can be dragged to different parts of the screen, allowing playback to continue on top of other apps.
In Normal view, click the video in your slide. Click on the Playback tab. Next to Start, click the down arrow, and select Automatically. When you are delivering your presentation in Slide Show View or Presenter View, the video will play automatically when you arrive at the slide.
