Senator Padmé Amidala of the planet Naboo became pregnant during the Clone Wars with her husband, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, as the father. She gave birth to twins, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa.
But despite this, Anakin found out that Padme was pregnant only a couple of weeks before the twins were born. So, why did it take so long for her to tell him? A specific timeframe for Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith hasn't come out, but it's believed by most to take place in just under two weeks.
She planned to have the baby on Naboo to avoid public scrutiny and consequent scandal that would have killed her career. While on Coruscant, she kept a low profile and wore very baggy clothes (i.e. pompous Senatorial robes). The general public did not know she was pregnant.
Overview. After her death in childbirth on Polis Massa, Amidala's body was returned to Naboo for the proper funeral rites. Well Clone Wars season 7 shows us that the time from battle of Coruscant to order 66 was just as long as the Mandalorian invasion, and Anakin went to Mustafar right after order 66. The next day Padme went to Mustafar, got choked, and gave birth.

This is confirmed later in the movie when Obi-Wan informs Padme that Anakin killed them. Both are torn apart with hurt and confusion, trying to make sense of something so terrible.
