As an enemy sniper closed in on her squad, Ana took the shot... and realized that she was aiming at
The Overwatch comic "Legacy" explains that Ana had the opportunity to take out Widowmaker during a mission, but hesitated when she recognized the person she was aiming at. This mistake cost her dearly, as Widowmaker then shot Ana in her eye and left her mortally wounded.
She later came face to face with the sniper but hesitated to take the shot when she found out the sniper was Amélie Lacroix, now Widowmaker. Widowmaker was able to shoot first, and Ana's cybernetic eye was shattered.

A founding member of Overwatch and once renowned as the greatest sniper in the world, Ana Amari comes from a long line of decorated military veterans. Though she was thought to have perished in a firefight with Talon, Ana has rejoined the fray to protect her country, family, and closest allies.
Widowmaker has arguably the most tragic backstory out of all the heroes. Formerly the wife of an Overwatch agent, Amélie Lacroix cared only for her husband and ballet.
Sam and Ana became a couple before the Omnic Crisis. The two ended up having a daughter named Fareeha.

Widowmaker is a perfect counter for Ana as she can quickly take her head while focusing on healing her allies by shooting biotic bullets at them. The former can use her gun as an automatic weapon as well, which can burst down the latter in mere seconds.
In Deathmatch, Ana can use Nano boost on herself (since she has no allies to use it on). In the Game Options, Ana has an option that affects her Nano Boost: Nano Boost Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity of Nano Boost's targeting.

Ana is a support hero in Overwatch 2, who provides healing using her long-ranged rifle. The rifle provides a large chunk of healing to teammates when hit and deals damage to enemies hit.
In terms of passive abilities, Ana hasn't much to offer. She comes with her Passive Role ability Support, a trait that makes her automatically heal herself over time. This ability triggers after some seconds without taking damage.
But Widowmaker is perhaps most notorious for her assassination of the Shambali leader, Tekhartha Mondatta at a rally for peace in King's Row.
During the battle the recklessness of the young Reinhardt caused him to separate from his squad and over-eagerly attack an OR14 unit, losing his eye in the process.
Ana wasn't “young Ana” when Widowmaker shot her eye out - Ana already had grey hair. She was ~54, and Widowmaker was ~27.
5 Moira And Ana
Ana is also one of the strongest healers in raw numbers, similar to Mercy, which can compensate in case Moira isn't healing as much. They're also both capable fighters on their own, so the healers won't exactly be endangered, especially considering Ana doesn't need to get close to heal anyone.
Slardar: Widow recognize her as a legend. She also put a sniper bullet in her eye. Canonically, Widow beats Ana.
Aim For The Body
Ana's Biotic Rifle can not deal critical hits when hitting the enemy's weak point. This means that the damage or healing of her main attack will deal the same damage or heal the same amount regardless of where you hit the target.
