Use a flashlight and magnifying glass to thoroughly check crevices, headboards, and baseboards for these indicators.
Rusty or reddish stains on bed sheets or mattresses caused by bed bugs being crushed. Dark spots (about this size: •), which are bed bug excrement and may bleed on the fabric like a marker would. Showering can help remove any bed bugs present on your skin temporarily, as water and soap can disrupt their ability to cling to surfaces. However, showering alone is not sufficient to eliminate a bed bug infestation, as these pests primarily reside in hidden cracks and crevices within your home.

You can use your washing machine and dryer to kill bed bugs infesting clothes and other washable items. Clothes laundered in hot water and/or dried in temperatures hotter than 122°F for 20 minutes will kill all stages of bed bugs.

Don't move things from room to room. Moving things from the room with bed bugs to another room in the house may spread the bed bugs. Don't wrap items in black plastic and place in the sun. It will not get hot enough inside the bag to kill all the bugs.

Bed bugs can reproduce rapidly. Females will lay one to five eggs per day, and one female can lay between 200-300 eggs over her lifetime. The eggs are white, about 1/32-inch long, and are covered with sticky glue that keeps them attached to the surface where they are laid.

Bed bugs lay eggs in a lot of places, but we highly doubt they are going to lay eggs in anyone's ear. They will, however, lay eggs in the seams of a suitcase, a pocketbook, a sleeping bag, a piece of clothing, and more.
