Shayla disappeared on Wednesday afternoon from her remote family property in Stormlea, in Tasmania's south-east, which sparked an extensive search. Tasmania Police confirmed she was found this afternoon by State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers in bushland near Halls Road in Stormlea.
"It was an effort of perseverance and the community also helped us. "No-one wavered in their resolve to find Shayla safe. "We were dealing with a four-year-old girl, we knew we had to find her, we had to do that crawling on hands and knees to locate her," he said. "And that's what SES did to locate her."
Shayla Phillips was last seen in her backyard around 2.30pm yesterday in the Stormlea area in the island's south-east. Police don't suspect her disappearance is suspicious, but have not ruled it out, officers said today. She went missing while playing with two dogs belonging to a neighbour.
