Of all the treatment options investigated, tea tree oil has been shown to be the most promising option for killing Demodex mites (Liu 2010). Tea tree oil therapies may be more effective as they are known to have antibacterial, antifungal, and anti‐inflammatory properties (Liu 2010).
Tea tree oil (TTO) has demonstrated promising acaricidal effects against scabies mites in vitro and has also been successfully used as an adjuvant topical medication for the treatment of crusted scabies, including cases that did not respond to standard treatments.
Make your own solution. Dilute 100 percent tea tree oil in a carrier oil such as coconut oil or jojoba oil. (The usual recipe is 3 to 5 drops of pure tea tree oil in 1/2 to 1 ounce of carrier oil.) Apply head-to-toe twice per day for seven days.
Furthermore, the killing effect of TTO was dose dependent—that is, being 14.8 (9.5), 34.7 (4.3), and 150 minutes for 50%, 25%, and 10% of TTO, respectively (p<0.01); 50% TTO and 10% TTO also exerted a similar killing of D brevis (not shown).
At the highest doses, the essential oils of the two lavender species and of peppermint killed 100% of the mites, both by direct contact and by inhalation. Eucalyptus oil was the least active.
Steam cleaning or washing items in hot water is a sure-fire way to kill and eliminate mites of all types. Use a steam cleaner to heat treat your carpeting, furniture and bedding. Wash the bed spreads and your clothing and other such fabrics in hot water and dry clean them at a high temperature.
Permethrin is a skin cream with chemicals that kill mites that cause scabies and their eggs. It's generally considered safe for adults, people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and children over 2 months old.
Wash all sheets, blankets, pillowcases and bedcovers in hot water that is at least 130 F (54.4 C) to kill dust mites and remove allergens. If bedding can't be washed hot, put the items in the dryer for at least 15 minutes at a temperature above 130 F (54.4 C) to kill the mites.
You can't wash or scrub all Demodex mites away. But you may be able to help prevent infestation by keeping your skin clean. This removes the extra oil and dead skin cells the mites eat.

Simply apply a thin layer of tea tree oil over any ant trails you notice. Not only can tea tree oil help get rid of ants in your garden, it can help get rid of ants that are unwelcome inside of your home, too. Insects in general aren't fond of the smell of tea tree oil.
Some oils caused rapid mites death, in as little time as several or between ten to twenty minutes, while for others it took several hours or days.
An apple cider vinegar bath can help get rid of the mange mites. Mix ½ cup of apple cider vinegar with ½ cup of Borax and warm water. Be sure the Borax is fully dissolved before sponging the mixture on your dog's skin and coat.
Tea tree oil is typically applied topically to the eyelid in the form of a scrub via eyelid wipes or foam when attempting to fight ocular Demodex infestations (Cheng 2015), but it should never be taken orally because it is highly toxic if ingested (Hammer 2006).

While folliculorum tend to stay on the face, D. brevis can distribute all over the body. The chest and neck are common areas of D. brevis infestation, so you might notice more symptoms there if you have it.

While some mites—like the mostly harmless dust mite—are all but impossible to completely eliminate from your home, troublesome biting mites are comparatively easier to treat. Scabies is an itchy skin rash caused by a tiny burrowing mite called Sarcoptes scabiei. Intense itching occurs in the area where the mite burrows. The need to scratch may be stronger at night.
