In the fall finale of Season 16, Bailey suffers a miscarriage. Bailey also fosters a teenage boy, Joey Phillips.
Bailey's miscarriage
Before her husband Ben (Jason Winston George) was able to get there, however, she lost the baby. Bailey wanted to continue working, and implored Ben to go home, or go drink, but not to stay around “with those sad, beautiful eyes.”
She is married to Ben Warren and has three children: Tuck with her ex-husband; Joey Phillips, whom she brought into their home when Joey was already an adult; and Pruitt Arike Miller, whom she and Ben took in after Pru's father, Dean Miller, died. In 2023 she won the prestigious Catherine Fox Award.
Pruitt Arike Miller is the daughter of Dean Miller and JJ Lau. After Dean's death, she was adopted by Ben Warren and Miranda Bailey.
Although this was a deep and layered storyline, it was diluted in its split and forced audiences to watch both shows to follow the emotions accurately. Eventually, the custody battle ended in favor of Ben and Miranda, and Pru joined Joey as a permanent Bailey-Warren.
The Broadway songster shares two children — Sebastian and Francisco — with his wife, Vanessa Nadal. The parents are very protective of their kids, and when Miranda does share photos or videos of them, he never shows their faces.
This leads to a lot of tension between him and Miranda, who's not only his boss but the chief of surgery. His wife eventually lifts the suspension in order for him to help April deliver her baby. A risk taker, Ben has changed career paths and now works as a firefighter.
His diaphragm and colon were ruptured, and something bad had happened to his aorta. Bailey was losing her composure and busting into the surgery. Hahn was smacking her down for thinking she could be around while they cut her son open. It was generally a big mess.
Bailey lives in Morristown, New Jersey. He met his ex-wife, Laurence, in a pub in Morristown in the 1990s. The couple married in 1997 and divorced in 2012. They have two children.

Tuck Jones is the son of Miranda Bailey, whom she had with her ex husband, Tucker Jones. He his named after his grandfather, William, his godfather, George O'Malley and his mother Miranda Bailey. He is nicknamed Tuck after his father Tucker Jones.
O'Malley was already Bailey's favorite intern and after this incident, she named her son William 'George' Bailey Jones after him, in gratitude for the care and empathy shown by George during her difficult delivery.
