No, plain chocolate doesn't naturally contain eggs; it's made from cocoa, sugar, and milk (for milk chocolate). However, some specialty chocolates, chocolate-flavored melts, or baked goods (like mousse or brownies) do add eggs or egg-derived ingredients (like egg lecithin) for texture or flavor, so always check the ingredient list for allergens.
Dark chocolate: Contains 50-85% cocoa solids and melts smoothly due to high cocoa butter content. Milk chocolate: Lower cocoa content means it melts more gently and requires careful temperature control. White chocolate: Made primarily from cocoa butter, sugar, and milk solids, melts at the lowest temperature.
Some of our chocolate variants do contain nuts (not egg). Consumers can check back of pack and allergen declaration line on packaging to check if the product contains fruit/nuts etc.
Chocolate does not contain eggs. However in rare instances there are chocolates that use egg lecithin as an emulsifier and may need to be avoided, as well as chocolates with a cream or fondant filling, like the popular Cadbury Creme Egg.

Cadbury's vegan chocolate offering is the Cadbury Plant Bar, a dairy-free, plant-based chocolate made with almonds instead of milk for a smooth texture, available in flavors like Smooth Chocolate and Salted Caramel. It's certified by the UK's Vegan Society and aims to mimic traditional milk chocolate but has a distinct almond note; reviews are mixed but generally positive for a dairy-free option, noting its creaminess and reasonable price.

The main difference between melted chocolate and chocolate that has been taken further to be tempered is how stable the cocoa butter crystal structure is. The stability of these cocoa butter crystals affects both how the chocolate looks and how it feels in one's mouth as mentioned earlier.

Although Flake is made from milk chocolate, the manufacturing process gives it a different arrangement of fat and cocoa solids, so the melting fat isn't able to lubricate the cocoa particles to the point where they can flow. In a bain marie, a Flake will never melt. In the microwave, it eventually just burns.

Maltesers taste different in Australia primarily because of the local milk used in the chocolate coating, which varies due to climate, grass, and cow breeds, making the chocolate richer and creamier; plus, Australian regulations require higher cocoa solids (25%) than in some other countries, leading to a less sugary, more chocolate-forward flavor compared to the often sweeter, coarser texture of UK versions.
