Urine will not hurt the circumcision and should not cause pain since surgery was not performed on the area where the urine comes out. Urine is sterile and does not cause infections. It is not unusual to see a small amount of bleeding from the incision for the first day or two.
Call your pediatrician right away if: Your baby does not urinate normally within 6 to 8 hours after the circumcision. There is persistent bleeding. There is redness around the tip of the penis that gets worse after 3 to 5 days.
For 3 or 4 days after your operation, it's likely you'll experience some discomfort and swelling around the head of your penis. Before leaving hospital, you'll be given painkilling medicine, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, to help ease this.
Incision care
Wash the area daily with warm water and pat it dry. Don't use hydrogen peroxide or alcohol, which can slow healing. You may cover the area with a thin layer of petroleum jelly, such as Vaseline, and gauze bandage if it weeps or rubs against clothing. Change the bandage every day.
For circumcised boys, chronic irritation from diapers or underwear can cause the urethral meatus, where the hole where urine comes out narrows. This can cause a deviated or spraying urinary stream, urinary urgency, urinary frequency, pain with urination or blood in the urine.

Your child may be constipated after surgery, or they may not. If they have small, hard or painful poop, this is from the anesthesia and pain medications they received.
Drink plenty of water – about 6 to 8 glasses per day. If you are not having regular bowel movements, you may need to take a stool softener or a laxative. Speak to a pharmacist about which one to use. If you do not have a bowel movement in the 3 days after surgery, call your doctor.
You will want to avoid putting pressure on the circumcised penis in the first few days. 3) Most babies sleep quite well following the circumcision. The best sleeping position for your baby is on his side, supported by a blanket roll. 4) Healing is promoted by keeping the area clean and dry.
Some before and after studies of men circumcised as adults have reported decreased penile sensitivity [27,31], while others have reported no change in penile sensitivity and satisfaction [32]. One before and after study found an increased ejaculatory latency time after circumcision, which was deemed an advantage [30].
Morris' systematic review carried out in Australia [23] on early MC, with a total of 40,473 men, showed that medical circumcision (MC) does not adversely affect sexual function, sensitivity or pleasure.
Baby circumcision care
Stick with sponge baths until your baby's penis is healed and the umbilical cord drops off. You'll want to avoid getting the area wet in a bath before then (though clearly it will get damp when he pees, which is not a problem as long as you change diapers as needed).
Clean the penis by gently blotting or squeezing warm water from a washcloth or cotton ball onto the penis. Do not use soap, lotion, powder or diaper wipes to clean the penis because they may cause stinging or irritation.
Healing may take up to 3 weeks. In most cases, the child will be released from the hospital on the day of the surgery. At home, children should avoid vigorous exercise while the wound heals. If bleeding occurs during the first 24 hours after surgery, use a clean cloth to apply pressure to the wound for 10 minutes.
It's important to keep the tip of your penis clean. The area should be kept dry for 48 hours after the operation. After this, take warm baths or showers once or twice a day. Don't use bubble bath or scented soaps, as these may irritate your healing wound.
The introduction of a newly modified circumcision method has made it possible to improve the results of the procedure. This method is called the 8-figure non-absorbable suture (8FNS) technique.
Pat the cut (incision) dry. You may also take short baths if you wish. Avoid strenuous activities, such as bicycle riding, jogging, weight lifting, or aerobic exercise, for 4 weeks or until your doctor says it is okay. You can return to work and normal activities, including driving, when you are comfortable doing them.
At first the tip of the penis may appear slightly swollen and red and you may notice a small amount of blood on the diaper. You may also notice a slight yellow discharge or crust after a couple of days.
The tip may be sore, and the penis itself may look red and swollen. You may see a yellow crust on the tip as well. This is normal and should go away on its own in a few days. It will take a week to 10 days for your son's penis to heal completely.
Normal Circumcision Healing
The scab at the incision line comes off in 7 to 10 days. If a Plastibell (plastic ring) was used, it should fall off by 14 days. 10 days is the average. While it can't fall off too early, pulling it off can cause bleeding.
Nearly 40% said sex was more satisfying afterward. About 57% reported no change in sexual satisfaction, and only 3% said sex was less satisfying after their partner was circumcised. Also, some women said their partner had less or no difficulty maintaining or getting an erection.
Eventually, the foreskin should be retracted far enough during urination to see the meatus (the hole where the urine comes from). This prevents urine from building up beneath the foreskin and possibly causing an infection.
Recovery and Outlook
Recovery from circumcision takes about eight to 10 days. While the penis heals, it may look swollen and red.
It takes approximately two to four weeks for the sutures to fully dissolve. Firm, supportive underwear while the stitches are in place is often helpful.
