Can a guy ever “go in too far” and cause a very hurtful pain? No. Most women have vaginas that are about three to seven inches long, but they can stretch to be even longer during vaginal intercourse. It's true that some penises are too big to fit comfortably into a vagina.
Outside of childbirth, the cervix remains very small. Some people believe that deep penetration is dangerous. With enough lubrication and patience most people can enjoy deep penetration without pain or injury.
One thing is for sure: You don't need to have a 9- or 10-inch penis to be considered “big,” despite what pornography and popular media might make you think. Anything over that 5-inch mark would be considered bigger than average.
Your cervix is located inside your pelvic cavity, anywhere from 3 to 6 inches inside your vaginal canal. It begins at the base of your uterus and extends downward onto the top part of your vagina. This place where your cervix bulges onto the uppermost part of your vagina is called your ectocervix.
A 16-cm (6.3-inch) erect penis falls into the 95th percentile: Out of 100 men, only five would have a penis larger than 16 cm. Conversely, an erect penis measuring 10 cm (3.94 inches) falls into the 5th percentile: Only five out of 100 men would have a penis smaller than 10 cm.
Perhaps more interesting is the narrow distribution of erect penis size. Most men are remarkably close to each other: 4.7 inches is in the bottom 25 percent, and 5.6 inches is at the top 25 percent. Very few people — those within the top 1 percent — reach 9 inches.
Hitting the cervix during intercourse can cause bruising, making it feel tender and sensitive. A bruised cervix typically occurs with deep penetration. For example, the risk of a bruised cervix usually increases if you're in the doggy style position.
Bruised cervix symptoms
While they might be mild for some, others can experience severe cramps that lead to sweating, nausea, and/or vomiting. You might also experience mild pain deep inside your lower abdomen or discomfort in the lower back area. Sometimes, you might see spotting or light bleeding.
What is the average penis size? Average penis size for an adult man is about 5.16 inches (13.12cm) long, when erect, with a girth of about 4.59 inches at the widest part (11.66cm). Flaccid, these penis size averages become 3.61 inches (9.16 cm) in length and 3.66 inches (9.31 cm) in girth.
It takes 3.6 inches from the root of the penis to the tip of the glans to hit the 50th percentile for flaccid length. That means 68 percent of men measure between 3 and 4.2 inches, and 95 percent are in the 2.4- to 4.8-inch range.
Some health issues can cause painful intercourse, like endometriosis, vaginal infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. Others — like vaginal dryness and irritation — can make sex uncomfortable.
The first time you have sex, it might feel awkward, nerve-racking, or physically uncomfortable, but it shouldn't be too painful. You might feel discomfort and possibly bleed a little because your hymen might tear a bit. Not everyone experiences this, though.
When you're having sex for the first time, you may feel some discomfort, especially with penetrative sex. You may feel pressure, stretching, or mild pain near the vaginal opening. This should get better as sex goes on and usually feels even better during future sex experiences.
Deep pain (collision dyspareunia): This is pain that occurs in deep penetration. It may feel worse in certain sexual positions. This type can happen due to conditions affecting your bladder or bowel, pelvic floor dysfunction, endometriosis or pelvic congestion syndrome.
The opening is tiny and normally closed with mucus. So the cervix may be touched during sex, but it cannot be penetrated. Some people find cervical stimulation pleasant. Others find it uncomfortable or even painful.
In some cases, the cervix can become bruised from deep penetration, resulting in discomfort and sometimes bleeding (not heavy bleeding though). A bruised cervix, like a bruise anywhere else on your body, is not a permanent injury and will heal with time, usually a few days, in which you should avoid sex.
In fact, cervical stimulation can even be pleasurable. Some people have reported that cervical stimulation contributes to their orgasm—describing it as feeling like “a shower of stars” or “images of universal spaciousness.”
Positions to try: Lay down flat on your stomach and have him enter you from behind, in a kind of lazy doggy style, if you will. Spooning, aka both of you on your sides — face each other for lots of lovey eye-contact.
The most extreme reason why you experience pain while being on top is that, there might be physiological disorders such as fibroids or endometriosis that either grows inside or outside the uterus. This can be serious, so, it is always advisable to consult a doctor before you take any undiagnosed step.
It is important to note that height and penis size are not directly related. Studies have shown that there is no significant relationship between the two. The size of a man's penis is not directly correlated with his height. Penis size can vary significantly among individuals regardless of their height.
In general, smaller flaccid penises lengthen at erection by a greater percentage than larger flaccid penises, with most men reaching an average size of 5 to 7 inches when erect.
Based on these studies, the average length of an erect penis is between 5.1 and 5.5 inches (12.95-13.97 cm), but after taking volunteer bias into account, it is probably toward the lower end of this range. Studies show that a majority of men wish they were larger, with some choosing penile lengthening surgery.
