Yes, Daemon Targaryen likely loved Rhaenyra in the books, but it was a complex, messy, and often self-serving love, intertwined with shared Targaryen pride, ambition for power, familial duty (as uncle/niece and future in-laws), and a unique understanding of each other as "two sides of the same coin". While not a conventionally healthy romance, book-Daemon consistently supported her claim and saw her as the future of their House, even bringing her exotic gifts from across the Narrow Sea as a child.
Daemon is the brother of Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine). Rhaenyra is Viserys' daughter, so that makes Daemon her uncle and husband. That's pretty wild if you ask me! Still, the age difference between Daemon and Rhaenyra is ... surprisingly not as bad as you'd think.
I've watched and read some of the interviews the actors and the showrunner gave, and they clearly establish that Daemon loves his family, but loves especially Rhaenyra.
As such, to follow the book's record of Daemon helping Rhaenyra take King's Landing, he had to not only come back to her side but also be a fervent supporter of her rule. Thankfully, the show finally merged with the book's depiction of Daemon backing Rhaenyra during House of the Dragon's season 2 finale.
In the book, Mysaria remains loyal to Rhaenyra for the rest of her life - so we would assume there's still a long road ahead for the two of them.
Rhaenyra goes in to hug Mysaria, both to comfort her and to thank her. The hug lingers and turns into a kiss. This was a surprise to readers of George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood, which doesn't mention a romance between Rhaenyra and Mysaria.
For their betrayal, Hugh Hammer and Ulf White infamously became known as the Two Betrayers. It was believed that the treachery of the two dragonseeds was out of avarice, as they both resent the lands that Rhaenyra gave them and that Hugh and Ulf, who have a lust for power and wealth, desired to become lords.
"House of the Dragon" portrays Daemon Targaryen's relationship with Laena Velaryon with more emotional nuance than the books, suggesting he did care for her. However, his love for Rhaenyra Targaryen appears deeper and more complex, influencing the power dynamics and central narrative of the series.
On Dragonstone, after receiving the news that his wife, Princess Rhaenys, had fallen at Rook's Rest trying to come to the aid of Lord Staunton, angry words were exchanged between the queen and Lord Velaryon. Corlys blamed Rhaenyra for his wife Rhaenys's death.
House Targaryen conquered and unified the realm before it was deposed during Robert's Rebellion, where House Baratheon replaced it as the new royal house. The two surviving Targaryens, Viserys and Daenerys, fled into exile to the Free Cities of Essos across the Narrow Sea.
Daemon Targaryen died on the 22nd of the fifth month and Rhaenyra Targaryen died the same day, 5 months later. #HouseOfTheDragon #Rhaenyra #Daemon. The fact that there are fans who think Daemon survived a fall from *probably* 1,000 feet into water is wild.
Rhaenyra's love for Harwin and the loss she experiences due to their separation and his death contribute to her growing resentment and determination to fight for her rights and protect her children in the upcoming civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.
After Viserys declared Rhaenyra as his rightful heir, the furious Daemon left for Dragonstone and took Mysaria with him. They remained there for six months, during which time Mysaria became pregnant; when Daemon learned of her pregnancy, he gave her a dragon egg, and by that infuriated Viserys.
He's 100% in love with Rhaenyra. It's all over his dialogue, body language and the way he looks at her. He is tender with nobody else like he is with her. Even Matt Smith himself said the only 2 people Daemon loves are Viserys and Rhaenyra.
The "spiciest" romance book depends on your preference for dark, fantasy, or contemporary spice, but top contenders often include Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton (dark/obsessive), Credence by Penelope Douglas (step-sibling taboo), Neon Gods by Katee Robert (Greek mythology reimagining), and A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas (high fantasy), with Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James remaining a classic for general high heat.
If you're familiar with Game of Thrones or A Song of Ice and Fire, you probably know about Jon Snow and his love interest Ygritte. But… their relationship is pretty flawed if you look at how it came about.
Alicent dies three years after Rhaenyra in "Fire and Blood."
Rhaenyra struggled to keep the smallfolk happy because she raised taxes to afford the conflict. Three years after Rhaenyra's death, Alicent is placed under house arrest because she fails to persuade her granddaughter to kill Rhaenyra's last surviving son.
Though it isn't likely to occur in the season 2 finale, Ulf eventually betrays Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy). After surviving his first battle and helping Team Black to retake King's Landing, Ulf and Hugh get a little ahead of themselves.
Visenya Targaryen (figlia di Rhaenyra e Daemon) Visenya, like other Targaryen babies who were stillborn, are described with dragon characteristics, such as scales, wings and a tail, and although some think it is due to incest, it is actually because the Targaryens really are of the blood of the dragon, it is said that ...
According to Mushroom, Rhaenyra received those lessons from Daemon because she was in love with Criston Cole, and she wanted him to see her as a woman.
Laena suffers from complications during her third pregnancy. After Daemon is informed that it would perhaps be possible to save the baby through the use of a caesarean section, Laena resolves to die a dragonrider's death, walking to Vhagar and commanding the dragon to incinerate her.
In short, NO. Robert was infatuated with the idea of marrying Lyanna and “becoming” Ned's brother. Lyanna never would have wanted for anything. But beyond making sure Lyanna was comfortable as is a husband's duty, Robert still wouldn't have been a good husband.
(Spoiler)After Rhaenyra's death, Aegon-II was crowned again(it lasts for six months), during that period he says the title "queen" must belong to his mother, Rhaenyra should only be mentioned as a princess.
