While Hayley and Elijah never had a definitive, shown reunion in the afterlife, showrunner Julie Plec indicated it's the intended outcome, suggesting their souls found peace together, with Hayley forgiving Elijah and waiting for him for their dance, even though their final moments in The Originals didn't depict it directly. Fans believe their final message about waiting for their dance in the afterlife implies they eventually found each other and peace after their sacrifices.
