Many email service providers have email tracking options. They allow the sender to know the location of the recipient, the gadget they're using, and when the reader opens a message or clicks a link.
However, email providers, ISPs, and law enforcement agencies can track down individuals from emails using their IP addresses and other metadata. And marketing companies can monitor how you respond to the emails you receive. It's impossible to guarantee 100% anonymity on the internet.
Outlook keeps track of your delivery and read receipts. To view that information, open your sent items, and double-click a message. Then, click Tracking. And you can see when the receipts arrived in your inbox, and the recipient names.
Can My Employer Read My Work Email? Emails sent or received through a company email account are generally not considered private. Employers are free to monitor these communications, as long as there's a valid business purpose for doing so.
Check Your Account Activity
After you sign into your Outlook.com email dashboard, click your name in the upper right corner of the Web page, and then select "Account Settings." Enter your account password when prompted, and then select "Recent Activity." Scroll down the page to view the list of activities.
Unfortunately, tracing an email sender's location in Gmail is not possible. The problem with Gmail is that it does not include the source IP address in the email headers. Resultantly, you're unable to get your hands on the sender's IP address to track them.

You can see your sign-in history, including the dates and times that your Gmail account was used. You can also see the IP addresses which were used to access your account.
Emails can sometimes be sent without our tracking even if Mailtrack for Gmail is enabled in your email account. This can be because the tracking was disabled for that particular email, or the email was sent in plain text mode for example.
Email tracking is a method for monitoring whether the email message is read by the intended recipient. Most tracking technologies use some form of digitally time-stamped record to reveal the exact time and date when an email is received or opened, as well as the IP address of the recipient.
You'll need more than just an incognito browser — you'll need an untraceable email address sent from a secure network, like Avast SecureLine VPN. An anonymous email address done right hides your true identity. From sender name to the IP address and metadata, an anonymous email can't be traced back to the sender.
But the likelihood of someone figuring out your personal IP address from an email you sent is very low. However, your ISP and your email provider do have your IP address and, depending on laws and privacy policies, may reveal it if compelled.
You can hide your IP address by either using the Tor browser, a proxy server, or a free VPN. You can also join a public Wi-Fi network. Is hiding your IP address illegal? In the U.S, hiding your IP address is not illegal.
If you don't want people knowing whether you opened emails you've received, you can stop this by simply setting your email client of choice not to load images automatically. For example, in Gmail, head to Settings > General, select "Ask before displaying external images," and click "Save Changes."
If you want to find out whether you email has been read, you'll need to turn on email read reciepts on your iPhone. They can be great if used for business, checking if people have received event invitations, or if you're generally a bit paranoid.
The server will have logs of that deleted account and its activity. So the government can look at the email, contact the server owner, and ask for the details of the account holder. In some places, such queries are automated.
Tracing an IP address will give you its approximate geographic location, and it's actually pretty easy to do. There are several online IP trackers that allow you to search for an IP address, including WolframAlpha and the Spiceworks IP Lookup tool.
