Maintain water temperature: Only use warm water to bathe your pet. While your dog might enjoy splashing around in cold bath water when it's hot outside, it's unsafe to wash your dog with cold water during the winter, especially if they normally have to relieve themselves immediately after getting a bath.
Sometimes when the weather is too hot, you would think using cold water can cool them down. But dogs are like humans too, and they don't quite enjoy cold water just like us. Make sure to keep the space for the shower warm and free of drafts lest your little furry friend suffers from the shivers.

Warm up the bathwater

You may simply need to add a skin supplement to your dog's diet, or be certain that it's an occasional occurrence.
One of the best times to bathe your dog is when he is tired. Dogs with little energy have less energy to resist or run. A sleepy dog may even enjoy being able to be still and rubbed by you in the bath, which will make the process easier.

Wet, cool towels
Wet your dog's coat or drench a towel in cool, but not really cold, water and drape it over your dog. This will really help in lowering body temperature and is a crucial step in cooling down a dog suffering from heatstroke before getting them to the vets.
Wet your dog's fur using lukewarm water to avoid overheating or drying out the skin. Suds up your pup with a dog shampoo and massage the soap in gently from head to tail. You can use a washcloth on your dog's face to help keep the soap from getting into the eyes, ears, or mouth, which can be irritating.
Turning in circles before lying down is an act of self-preservation in that the dog may innately know that he needs to position himself in a certain way to ward off an attack in the wild.
Never bathe your dog more than once a week unless it's recommended by your vet. While you're bathing your dog, take special care to note any lumps, bump or skin changes that could indicate a health problem. If you find something of concern, be sure to let your vet know.

Most dogs need to have their nails trimmed approximately once monthly. Dogs that are frequently walked on pavement or concrete may be able to go a bit longer between nail trims, because walking on a hard, rough surface can help file the nail.
