At the end of Season 2, just before the Battle of Culloden on April 16, 1746, a pregnant Claire says goodbye to Jamie, who expects to perish in the fight, and goes back through the standing stones approximately 200 years in the future to the Scotland of 1948.
Diana Gabaldon has confirmed there is no possibility that Jamie Fraser will time-travel into the future and live out his life at Lallybroch.
Some think Jamie's spirit (but not his body) traveled to through time to guide Claire to him; others suggest Jamie had a near-death experience after the Battle of Culloden, and that's why his ghost is 25 when he appears to Frank.
A: Claire does not force herself to time travel. It was simply an artistic choice by the show to transition back to Claire's life with Jamie before she returned to the 20th century. Think of the scenes with Frank as a flash forward, a peek at what happens after Claire spends two more years with Jamie in the past.

Yet, even with so many people suspicious of her, there are plenty of characters who know that Claire is a time traveler. As the number of time travelers on Outlander increases, the secret understandably has become harder to keep. But the more people who know, the more Claire and her family could be in danger.
When Claire returns to Scotland in the 17th century, she eventually becomes stepmother to Jamie's son by Geneva Dunsany, William Ransom, and his stepdaughter, Marsali MacKimmie Fraser, from his marriage to Laoghaire MacKenzie. She is later married to Lord John Grey.
Bree and Roger do eventually go back to their own time in the Outlander novels after Brianna gives birth to their daughter Mandy. Mandy has a heart condition that Claire can't treat in the 1770s, so the MacKenzies head back to the 1970s at the end of A Breath of Snow and Ashes to attempt to save their daughter.

Director Brendan Maher told Vulture that while both Menzies and Heughan had stunt doubles for the physically demanding sequence, neither used them much. “We had people for safety, just in case, but the nature of the work is that you want the actors to do as much as they possibly can,” Maher said.

Following the Battle of Culloden, Fergus continues to live at Lallybroch, and Jenny Murray tutors him with the rest of her children. He sometimes brings food to Jamie, who lives in a cave near the estate.
