7) Plane – Do Amish travel on airplanes? The vast majority do not permit this form of travel. However a small minority (mainly the New Order Amish churches) do allow air travel.

In conclusion, the Amish have strict hair rules that are deeply rooted in their belief system. Amish women keep their hair long and never cut or style it, while men are allowed to keep their hair shorter but still must wear hats when outdoors.
The Amish Use Mirrors
The use of a mirror is allowed because unlike a picture, it is not a graven image.
The use of technology is acceptable but not celebrated in Amish communities. Amish individuals who use technology will never try to show their cellphones or computers and will always keep that separate from their Amish way of life.
It is also not unusual to see Amish using such 2Oth-century technologies as inline skates, disposable diapers, cell phones and gas barbecue grills, because they are not specifically prohibited by the Ordnung. Technology is one of the areas where you will see the greatest differences between Amish orders.
Pennsylvania Dutch is the language used by the Amish population here in Lancaster County. It is considered to be their first and native language. The Amish learn to read, write and speak in English, allowing them to communicate with the 'outside world'.
Leaving the community
Some Amish youth do indeed separate themselves from the community, even going to live among the "English," or non-Amish Americans, experiencing modern technology. Their behavior during this time does not necessarily prevent them from returning for adult baptism into the Amish church.
These nightgowns are usually dark-colored and are also modest. They're full-length, and they cover almost the entire body, including long sleeves. In direct contrast with most Western societies, Amish nightclothes aren't meant to be alluring or flashy, but rather simple and functional.
The very next verse, Leviticus 19:28 cautions against the act of tattooing. Therefore, the Amish do not allow their community members to get tattoos. Piercings and earrings are also not allowed, as these are seen as signs of worldliness and vanity.

Each person sleeps on their side of the bed, with a board in between them to prevent any physical contact. The couple is allowed to talk to each other during the night, but they're not allowed to touch each other.
Sometimes referred to as "bundling," couples sleep together in the same bed all night fully clothed. Following the Amish rules known as Ordnung, the young couple is to lie beside each other for the duration of the night talking and being sure not to touch.
There's no law against wearing shoes, and Amish men, in particular, usually wear shoes. However, the women often go barefoot, and Amish children are always seen walking barefoot too.

In the Amish community, divorce is forbidden and not sanctioned in the Amish church. If a member of the community violates this, they are violating their vows that they took during their Amish baptism, which takes place between the ages of 18 and 22 years old, according to National Geographic.
