During a fight with Spider-Man and Venom, Carnage took a baby from its mother's arms and threw it out of a window. Thankfully, Venom saved it. Ripped out the tongues of the Spider Patrol and used said tongues to make a jacket. Went on a murder spree to attract Spider-Man and Venom so he could kill them both.
They were fighting in an apartment building, and when one of the neighbors noticed the fight, Carnage did the unthinkable. He grabbed an infant and threw it out a window just to cause a distraction and make his getaway. Luckily, Venom caught the infant, but the act still chilled Spidey to the bone.
While in prison, Venom produces an offspring named Carnage. (He reproduces asexually, in case you were wondering.) Venom doesn't tell Eddie about it, and Venom and Eddie escape prison. Once they're gone, Carnage bonds with Cletus.

Dylan Brock is the son of Eddie Brock and Anne Weying. When Anne bonded to the Venom symbiote, she somehow became pregnant with Dylan.
Having bonded with the symbiote, the two became the being known as Venom. During this time, it spawned seven offspring and a clone; its first child later had three of its own, producing the symbiotes known as Carnage, Scream, Lasher, Phage, Agony, and Riot.
Originating as an offspring of Venom, Carnage is much more powerful than its parent symbiote because of the symbiotes' biology, and is in many ways a darker version of him.
Carnage is Venom's offspring. That is why Carnage often calls him “Pops” or the like. Like a previous poster stated Venom feels responsible for Carnage and Carnage hates his “dad”.
Following it giving birth to Toxin, Cletus began affectionately referring to the Carnage symbiote using female pronouns. He has more recently reverted to referring to it with male pronouns.
The main reason was because the Carnage symbiote was not a perfect match with Cletus like Venom was with Eddie. In the middle of the climactic battle, we see Carnage and Cletus arguing with each other over Cletus' one true love Shriek, who Carnage hates because of her symbiote-killing sonic scream.
Shriek, in the pages of Marvel Comics, is the girlfriend of Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage, who will be played by Woody Harrellson in the sequel. Harrellson made a cameo appearance during a post-credit scene in the first Venom.

During the fight, Mulligan is apparently killed by Barrison, but absorbs a piece of one of the symbiotes, which later revives him and causes his eyes to glow blue.
The idea that he would become stronger after eating Carnage seems to come from an idea that he would be absorbing Carnage's symbiote powers and properties into himself, therefore becoming stronger. However, unlike the mutant powers of Rogue, Venom is not absorbing Carnage but consuming him.
