After the bandage is off, leave your penis open to air and apply Vaseline or bacitracin ointment around the sutures, several times each day. This will prevent the dry edges of the incision from sticking to your clothes. Avoid tight clothing, which can put pressure on your penis.
Clean the circumcision site with warm water and a cotton ball once or twice a day. Apply Vaseline for several days. This helps keep the area clean and keeps the wound site from adhering to the diaper.
It is prudent to apply the petroleum jelly on glans and meatal area of circumcised boys after each diaper change for 6 months post-circumcision.
What do I need to do to take care of the area that is healing? No special care is needed except placing petroleum jelly (Vaseline/A&D ointment) on the penis. Apply a lot, this will protect the area that is healing and prevent the penis from sticking to the diaper.
Normal Circumcision Healing
The scab at the incision line comes off in 7 to 10 days. If a Plastibell (plastic ring) was used, it should fall off by 14 days. 10 days is the average. While it can't fall off too early, pulling it off can cause bleeding.
Put plenty of petroleum jelly (such as Vaseline) on the circumcision area during each diaper change. This will prevent your baby's penis from sticking to the diaper while it heals. Fasten your baby's diapers loosely so that there is less pressure on the penis while it heals.
The introduction of a newly modified circumcision method has made it possible to improve the results of the procedure. This method is called the 8-figure non-absorbable suture (8FNS) technique.
If the incision has just started to open, with only a small part spreading apart, cover it with a clean bandage and call your surgeon. If it is open wide, cover it, call your surgeon, and expect to go to the nearest emergency room.

Recovery and Outlook
Recovery from circumcision takes about eight to 10 days. While the penis heals, it may look swollen and red.
Conventional circumcision can take 4 to 6 weeks for complete recovery. Conventional circumcision is an open surgery conducted through one of the three techniques, namely the dorsal slit, the forceps-guided method, and sleeve resection. A circumcision of any method at any age is normally expected to heal within a week.
After 48 hours, surgical wounds can get wet without increasing the risk of infection. After this time, you can get your stitches wet briefly with a light spray (such as in the shower), but they should not be soaked (for example, in the bath). Make sure you pat the area dry afterwards.
Pat the cut (incision) dry. You may also take short baths if you wish. Avoid strenuous activities, such as bicycle riding, jogging, weight lifting, or aerobic exercise, for 4 weeks or until your doctor says it is okay. You can return to work and normal activities, including driving, when you are comfortable doing them.
Place a quarter-sized amount of ointment, Aquaphor, petroleum jelly, A&D, or antibiotic (bacitracin, Neosporin, or generic), on the penis or in the diaper to keep the raw surface from sticking to the underpants or diaper. It is important to use this for 5 to 7 days.
Occasionally, the stitches, staples or glue give way and the wound reopens, either partially or completely. A wound reopening is called wound dehiscence (“duh-hi-sense”). Surgical wound opening is most likely within 3 to 10 days after surgery. Medical attention may be necessary to prevent infection and promote healing.

Pain control
Most boys will have some pain for 6 to 8 hours. Some may experience pain for up to several days after surgery.
Bleeding is the most common complication of circumcision, with an incidence of 1% in a large retrospective review [20]. Bleeding may occur along the skin edges between sutures or from a discrete blood vessel, most commonly at the frenulum.
It usually takes at least 10 days for your penis to heal after circumcision. You'll probably be advised to take at least 1 week off work to recover.
Proper healing can take several weeks. In the initial days after circumcision, the skin around the penis may appear red and swollen.
