Your AirPods play a sound for a few minutes to help you locate them, or until you stop the sound. If your AirPods aren't connected to your device and you don't have the Find My Network turned on, the sound plays the next time they connect to a Wi-Fi or cellular network.
Play a sound on your AirPods
Open the Find My app. Select the Devices tab. Choose your AirPods from the list. Tap Play Sound to play a sound that gets louder gradually.
When the device has been marked as lost, you see Activated under the Mark As Lost section. If the device isn't connected to a network when you mark it as lost, you see Pending until the device goes online again.
While the police cannot track your stolen AirPods, you can by using the “Find My” app and can then share the location with the police.
However, it only worked if your phone was within Bluetooth range of your AirPods. In other words, you had to be within 30 feet of the missing AirPods to locate them.

You can create a message for the device that says it's lost and how to contact you. For an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Apple Watch, your device doesn't display alerts or play a sound when you receive messages or notifications, or if any alarms go off. Your device can still receive phone calls and FaceTime calls.
Choose Play Sound to cause your phone to ring at max volume for five minutes so you can find it. If you have a second Android device, like a tablet, download the Google Find My Device app and use it to locate your missing device. Download the Find My Device app and open it. Choose Continue on your profile.

This is How to Find Lost Airpods that are Offline:
Play a sound on your AirPods: If your AirPods are within Bluetooth range of any of your Apple devices, you can use the Find My app to play a sound on your AirPods. This can help you locate them if they are nearby, even if they are offline.
If your AirPods are in the case or not currently connected, the last known location will be displayed. If your AirPods haven't been in use at all recently, they'll be listed as "offline."
Airpods don't have GPS or wifi so they only report last locations detected over bluetooth by your phone. That only has a range of a hundred feet or so. If you took them to work and left them in the case all the time and dropped them at work then it will not show their location at work.
The Lost Mode message should contain contact info. You can open Find My on your iPhone and tap on the Items tab. Scroll to the bottom of the Items list and tap Identify Found Item and see if there is any information on the AirPods.

If you lose your device and you think it is nearby, you can use Find Devices on iCloud.com to play a sound on it to help you find it. The sound plays even if the device is in silent mode or the volume is muted. If you have Family Sharing set up, you can also play a sound on a family member's device.
If the device is online: A sound starts after a short delay and gradually increases in volume, then plays for about two minutes. If applicable, a Find My [device] alert appears on the device's screen. A confirmation email is also sent to your Apple ID email address.
Just navigate to Settings –> Accessibility –> Audio/Visual, then toggle on the "Power On & Off Sounds" switch. Then, whether you manually power off and on your iPhone or restart it, you'll hear the device shutdown sound and boot chime.
1Find the Phone's Last Location with Find My Device
Find My Device is an excellent service Google provides for Android phone users to track their lost or stolen phones. However, you need to sign up before using it. To find a lost phone that is switched off; Go to Android.com/find on your web browser.
Location Services will not be able to report an iPhone's location unless it is able to make a connection to the internet OR location services have been turned OFF. If the battery dies then the iPhone's operations are also stopped and it cannot connect to the internet to report its location.
Can a phone be tracked if it's turned off? A phone that is turned off is difficult to track because it stops sending signals to cell towers. However, the service provider or internet provider can show the last location once it's switched back on.
Another option for pinging your iPhone is to use Siri on any other iOS 12+ device connected to your account, whether that's another phone, computer, iPad, or Apple watch. To do this, make sure Find My is enabled and that Siri is turned on. Call her. Once she replies, say, “Siri, find my iPhone.”
