Not always, but it's common for sons to be taller than their dads due to genetic inheritance from both parents and significant environmental factors like improved nutrition and health, leading many modern men to exceed their fathers' heights, though outcomes vary widely based on individual genetics.
For example, studies in Australia found that boys are typically around one per cent taller than their fathers, and girls around three per cent taller than their mothers.
The best predictor of a child's height is their parents' height or, more specifically, the mid-parental height. The mid-parental height is calculated by adding the mother's and father's height, adding 13 cm (5 inches) for boys or subtracting 13 cm (5 inches) for girls, and then finally dividing by 2.

Conclusions: Final height is influenced by both height and the age of onset of the PGS in normal maturing children. A normal but early puberty exerts a negative effect on final height. A delayed PGS exerts a positive effect on final height.
When keeping tabs on kids' growth, there are six things you should look out for:
Lack of height change over time: If you haven't noticed an increase in height for over 1-2 years, it's likely that you've stopped growing. Maturity in physical appearance: Your body will look more adult-like, with features such as facial hair in males or fully developed hips and breasts in females.
Does pubic hair cease growing once it's reached a certain length? All hair grows at a contstant rate, but eventually falls out. With body hair, which typically does not grow as long as head hair, the rate at which it falls out is greater. This results in hair that appears to reach a certain length then stops growing.
Strength training does not stunt growth…. however, maximal lifting (highest weight amount you can lift one to three times) may put you at more risk for injury to the growing areas of a child's body. Therefore, max lifting should be discouraged until after puberty.

Some children may be abnormally tall for their age from an early, rapid development of puberty or from an excess production of the growth hormone by the pituitary gland. These and other more rare conditions can stimulate growth, particularly of the jaw and the long bones of the arms and legs.
However the researchers looked at it, first-borns had, on average, an IQ of 1.5 points higher than second-born siblings, who in turn had a 1.5 higher IQ than third-borns and so on.
Mid-parental method
Another way to estimate your child's adult height is to add together the height of both parents and divide it by two. Then, some methods say to add 5 inches if they're a boy and subtract 5 inches if they're a girl; others say to only add or subtract 2 ½ inches.
Birth weight seems to matter less than you might think. Genes, not newborn weight, generally determine adult size.
