National Sorry Day is held on 26 May every year. It remembers the Stolen Generations, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, and acknowledges the ongoing impact of these removals. The day before the start of National Reconciliation Week, it is an observance, not a public holiday.
