Christmas Day Australia : December 25

In Australia Christmas is one of the most popular holidays of the year. It is celebrated on December 25 each year, honouring the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas Day is a public holiday in every state and territory. When December 25 falls on a weekend, an additional public holiday follows: Christmas Day 2027 is a Saturday, so Monday 27 December 2027 is a public holiday in every state and territory.

Christmas has evolved to a celebration with both religious and non-religious elements and a mix of traditions from many countries across the globe. Among Australians the Christmas tree and Christmas lights are the most common decorations, and the Christmas meal and presents from Santa Claus are the most popular traditions.
