Australians celebrate Boxing Day annually on December 26. It is a public holiday in every state and territory (in South Australia the December 26 holiday is called Proclamation Day) and one of the most important shopping days of the year. Boxing Day in Australia marks the start of the summer sales and is the perfect opportunity to exchange Christmas presents or redeem gift vouchers received at Christmas. Many online shops start their Boxing Day deals on the same day.
