Bank Holiday (banks only) 2063, 2064 and onwards

The Bank Holiday on the first Monday in August (Monday 3 August 2026, Monday 2 August 2027 and Monday 7 August 2028) is a holiday for banks in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. It is not a public holiday: in New South Wales retail bank branches must close under the Retail Trading Act 2008, and in the ACT the Holidays Act 1958 makes it a bank holiday, which applies to other workers only through their award or agreement. Most shops, offices and schools are open.

New South Wales also has local public holidays, often part-day, for local shows and race days in some council areas (for example the Walcha Cup on Friday 6 February 2026, from 12 noon to 6pm, in the Walcha local government area). They are listed by the NSW Government and are not shown on this calendar.
