The Western zodiac originated in Babylonian astrology, and was later influenced by the Hellenistic culture. Each sign was named after a constellation the sun annually moved through while crossing the sky.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19)
Ruled by strict, boundary enforcing, status upholding Saturn, Capricorn is the uncontested daddy of the zodiac.
On the basis of their observations and calculations, the Babylonians divided the sky into twelve areas, each of which was assigned a figure, a name, and a specific meaning. This became the zodiac with its twelve zodiac signs such as Aries, Gemini, Virgo, or Leo.
The Babylonians had already divided the zodiac into 12 equal signs by 1500 BC — boasting similar constellation names to the ones familiar today, such as The Great Twins, The Lion, The Scales — and these were later incorporated into Greek divination.
The constellation Ophiuchus, as defined by the 1930 International Astronomical Union's constellation boundaries, is situated behind the sun from November 29 to December 18.
Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, Sagittarius, and Scorpio are the top five rarest zodiac signs that offer a glimpse into the complexities of human nature.
Based on US Government data on births from 1994 to 2014, we found Capricorn, Aries, and Aquarius are the three rarest signs. Capricorns have not only the shortest zodiac season but also five out of six of the least popular days to have babies all fall under the Capricorn sun sign.

The Zodiac murdered five known victims in the San Francisco Bay Area between December 1968 and October 1969, operating in rural, urban and suburban settings. He targeted young couples and a lone male cab driver.

Ruled by the Moon, Cancer is the mother of the zodiac. Females belonging to Cancer are extremely loving, caring and emotional. They are replete with strong values of love and care, and have great natural maternal instincts that make them stand out as mothers.
Continuing on our journey around the astrological wheel, we take an unusual sidestep and come across Cancer, the Crab. This feminine, Yin polarity, feeling oriented soul expresses love in a most profound way and has therefore been anointed the “Mother of the Zodiac.”

Japan follows the Chinese astrological system divided into 12 signs (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig). Such division is connected with the Jupiter cycle around the Sun, which lasts about 12 years.
