History. Darth Maul longed for revenge against the Jedi. He was finally unleashed by his Master, Darth Sidious, in an assassination attempt on Queen Amidala on the outskirts of Tatooine. He battled briefly with Qui-Gon Jinn, the Queen's Jedi escort, but could not reach his target.
With his master, Darth Maul hoped to destroy the Jedi and restore the Sith to galactic power.
Darth Maul was twisted since childhood by Darth Sidious, molded, corrupted and altered by the dark side. Ultimately, he indeed became completely amoral, profoundly wicked, he wasn't redeemable, he's one of the worst out there.
There, Maul has a force vision about a battle that took there thousands of years ago. After the vision, he says “The Sith deserve their revenge. I deserve my revenge.” So, that is why Maul wanted revenge.
Sidious and his apprentice, Count Dooku, intended for Maul to escape, hoping he would lead them to the Nightsister witch Mother Talzin, Maul's mother and an old enemy of Darth Sidious.
Conclusion. Since that unfortunate day on Naboo, Maul hated Obi-Wan for sending him into a life of suffering and disappointment. Maul spent years plotting his revenge and was able to get a portion of it by killing Duchess Satine in front of Obi-Wan.
If Maul knew, he would have tole Obi Wan or another Jedi during the Clone Wars. Dooku knew Palpatine was Sidious as he told Obi-Wan about him controlling the senate and referred to him as the dark lord. There's no real way of actually knowing if he knew ab palpatine.
Obi-Wan was understandably part of Maul's hit list given how close the Jedi came to killing him during their initial encounter. Because of this, it made sense that Maul was bent on locating his rival for another confrontation, which was the general idea implied as he tracked Obi-Wan down in Rebels.
Darth Maul feared Vader in the same way as anyone would. Vader was the most notorious and ruthless figure in the Empire, using his rage and anguish to fuel his resolve, enabling him to dispatch his enemies without compassion or remorse.
Possibly the most sinister question left by Star Wars: The Phantom Menace revolves around Darth Maul's arrival on Tatooine and confrontation with Qui-Gon Jinn: As the Sith races on his speeder bike toward the Jedi, Maul seemingly tries to run down young Anakin Skywalker, whom he doesn't know.
"Is it the Chosen One?" Maul asked. "He is," Kenobi replied. Maul looked up, the life fading from his eyes, and uttered his last words. "He will avenge us."
Five years ago today, one of the coolest moments in Star Wars history happened, and there's a chance you don't know about it. It featured Obi-Wan Kenobi having one final lightsaber duel with his longtime rival Darth Maul, and Kenobi killing Maul in the process.
Why does Maul hate the Jedi in Star Wars? Because Maul was raised to hate them. The dark side is innate in Maul, he was born as a warrior, raised in hatred and violence, grow up steeped in the dark side, and then he was abducted by the Sith. Darth Sidious took Maul from his home to train him as his Sith apprentice.
Later stripped of his black Nightbrother markings, Maul was left solely red-skinned. Agonizing Sith tattoos were applied personally by Darth Sidious in an attempt to cleanse Maul's mind as well as demonstrating Maul's complete dedication to the dark side.
Like his master, Darth Sidious, better known as Sheev Palpatine, Maul's main weakness was his overconfidence. In Luke Skywalker's confrontation with Palpatine during The Return of the Jedi, he tells the Emperor that his overconfidence is his weakness.
In a way, Maul's mission during the final days of the Clone Wars was to stop Darth Sidious' rise to power. To do that, Maul planned to ambush Anakin Skywalker on Mandalore during the siege of the planet and kill the Jedi who would become Palpatine's new Sith apprentice and ultimate weapon.
1 Darth Sidious
There has been no Sith, as powerful, meticulous, nor as evil as the Emperor himself, Darth Sidious. As previously mentioned, Sidious trained in the Dark Side by Darth Plagueis before Sidious killed Plagueis in his sleep, making Sidious a Sith Master.
Even in the old Star Wars canon, the two had a confrontation, as they met in the comic book Star Wars Tales #9, where Maul pieced together that Anakin was Vader.
By the time of Episode 3; Anakin is in his prime, and already one of the Jedi Order's most powerful “masters” (although technically still a knight), just behind Obi-Wan, Windu, and Yoda. Maul wouldn't stand a chance. Anakin stomps.
Thought dead, Darth Maul survived his injuries by focusing on his hatred of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi who cut him in half. His shattered body was dumped amid the refuse of the junk planet Lotho Minor, where the once deadly warrior fell into madness, staying alive on a diet of vermin.
Maul is a deadly, evil, dark, and mysterious figure in the Star Wars franchise. In his first appearance, he was a formidable foe, having managed to kill Qui-Gon Jinn and temporarily have a stand over Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Why was Darth Maul calm and quiet in Phantom Menace? Because he was trained to be like that. Calm, secret, mysterious, he was a hunter and assassin, in addition to be a secret Sith Lord, too much talk was not his thing, moreover he had nothing to say to anyone in this movie but his Master.
According to Star Wars Legends content, the first Sith was a former Jedi Master, Ajunta Pall, who became a so-called Dark Jedi, or “Fallen” Jedi. As the name implies, these Force-sensitives chose to practice the Dark Side, and rejected the Light Side of the Force.
Regardless, Dooku's eyes weren't yellow because he wasn't motivated by anger. He was merely a practical dark side user, so he does not have the usual Sith eye color.
Outcome. The showdown on Coruscant was a confrontation that took place in the Supreme Chancellor's Suite of the Galactic Senate in 19 BBY. It began after Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker informed Master Mace Windu that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine had revealed his identity as a Sith Lord to him.
