Fairies are most famously associated with the Hawthorn (often called the "fairy tree") and the Blackthorn, particularly in Celtic folklore, but also other trees like the Ash and Elder, believed to be sacred gateways or homes, with disturbing them bringing bad luck.

The trees that hold up the world
