O. The letter O is a hard vowel. The short O sounds like the “o” in “shop,” while the long O sounds like the “oo” in “wool.”
These are Å, Ä and Ö. Å is pronounced like the English O in “or,” the Swedish Ä sounds almost like the word “air” in English, and Ö has a similar pronunciation to the [er] sound in the word “her.”
Ö is the 29th and final letter of the Swedish alphabet – unlike German for example, it's a distinct letter and not an accented o. Note that in Swedish, instead of saying 'A to Z' you say 'A till Ö'. And be aware that of the Scandinavian languages, Swedish and Icelandic are the only ones with the letter ö.
The Swedish letter Ä is pronounced like an English e, as in "get", while Ö has a longer sound, as in "fur". Å can be pronounced either long (as in "raw") or short (as in "hot").
Ö or ö is one of the 4 extra letters used in German. It can be replaced by using the letters Oe or oe. In English language newspapers it is often written as O or o but this is not correct.
Ø is equivalent to the vowel and letter Ö in the Icelandic, Swedish, Estonian and Finnish alphabets and languages. The letter Ø is also used in the orthographies of some African languages such as Lendu spoken in Congo-Kinshasa and Koonzime spoken in Cameroon.
When Scandinavians started to write with the latin alphabet they had three different letters for sounds that for most english speakers sounds pretty close to O. That was ö, ó and o. As languages was slowly simplified Sweden moved to use only ö, while Denmark-Norway - being one country - started using only ó.
The O umlaut is one of three German vowels that does not exist in the English alphabet. Ö does not have an equivalent sound in English.

All though in Sweden the Æ looks like Ä, and the Ø looks like Ö. But they are pronounced the same way.
The letter Ä arose in German and later in Swedish from originally writing the E in AE on top of the A, which with time became simplified as two dots. In the Icelandic, Faroese, Danish and Norwegian alphabets, "Æ" is still used instead of Ä.
– “ü” as in müde is like a Scottish person saying “grew” Make the sound “ee” as in “cheese” and then make your lips into an “o” shape. – “ö” as in blöd is like an English person saying “burn” Make the sound “a” as in the word “may” and then make your lips into an “o” shape.
The umlauted ü is recognised but is only used in names of German origin, and in German loanwords such as müsli. It is otherwise treated as a variant of y and is called a German y. In Swedish, y is a vowel and is pronounced as such (/y:/ as in yta).
