Saturn is the planet with over 1000 rings, though they appear as broad bands of ice and rock from afar, composed of countless individual ringlets and particles, with estimates suggesting hundreds or even thousands of these distinct ringlets make up its famous system. While other gas giants like Jupiter and Uranus have rings, Saturn's are the most extensive and visually spectacular, consisting of billions of icy chunks orbiting the planet.
J1407b is the first exoplanet with a ring system to be discovered. Its orbital period is around ten years. The rings are as large as the orbit of Venus around our Sun and are very complex. They contain about one Earth mass of material and cover over 40,000 times the area of Saturn's rings.

J1407b is a brown dwarf from Deneb. It is an star, as it has an outer layer of hydrogen, helium, uranium, nitrogen and iron. Beneath this layer lies a thick mantle of solid aluminum and a small core of semi-solid copper.
Saturn was named after the Roman god of agriculture. According to myth, Saturn introduced agriculture to his people by teaching them how to farm the land. Saturn was also the Roman god of time and this is perhaps why the slowest (in orbit around the Sun) of the five bright planets was named after him.

Difficult to observe
Out of the five planets known since ancient times as the 'wandering stars', Mercury is the one least explored. Unlike Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, Mercury is notoriously difficult to observe from Earth. Being the innermost planet of the Solar System, it always appears too close to the Sun.
Saturn will be retrograde from July 13 to November 27. This journey begins in the sign of Aries, which puts the focus on accountability.
