There's no single "max carry" in Death Stranding; it depends on upgrades and equipment, but you can eventually carry several hundred kilograms on your back with exoskeletons and reduce weight with Chiral devices, while vehicles like trucks can haul significantly more, often exceeding 1000kg total by combining weight and volume capacity with cargo on your back. The key is using the right tools (Power Skeleton, Floating Carriers, Trucks) to manage both weight and the volume of packages.
Container Sizes
Sam's backpack has a maximum capacity of 4x2 spaces, which can fit 8 Small, 4 Medium, 2 Large, or 1 XL + 1 Medium. Anything that doesn't fit in the backpack will be placed on the stack above, which has a 10x2 capacity. Additionally, Sam can only carry small containers on his shoulders and hips.
Depends on the route. If you think you need bridges or generators or postbox carry a a couple of PCCs and the required materials. You'll have to look at the route and carry them accordingly. I usually carried 2 PCCs at anytime.

Just keep on walking—heavily. Sam's Strength increases naturally the more weight he carries over long distances. This isn't a skill tree or a hidden perk. You'll notice gradual improvements in how much he can lug around as you take on heavier delivery loads.
Traditional Sherpas can carry around 90%-125% of their body weight long distances in low oxygen. So Sam can carry approximately 157.89% of his body weight! Considering that the upper limit is around 125%~160.48% then Sam's 157.89% is fairly reasonable.
