Frodo Baggins, fictional character, a hobbit (one of a race of mythical beings who are characterized as small in stature, good-natured, and inordinately fond of creature comforts) and the hero of the three-part novel The Lord of the Rings (1954–55) by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Frodo Baggins was a hobbit of the Third Age, the most famous of all Hobbits in the histories for his leading role in the Quest of the Ring.
Hobbits are a race of Middle-earth, also known as 'halflings' on account of their short stature, roughly half the size of men. They are characterized by curly hair on their heads and leathery feet that have furry insteps, for which they did not wear shoes.
Similarly, Frodo Baggins has relatively outlandish Brandybuck blood. Among the Elves of Middle-earth, the highest are those whose ancestors conformed most closely to the divine will, migrating to Aman and seeing the light of the Two Trees of Valinor.
Gandalf was one of the Maiar, a race of beings who assisted in the original creation of Arda (the location of Middle-Earth) and he was incredibly powerful. Originally Gandalf served as a divine emissary for the gods of creation, the Valar, and was tasked with defeating Sauron.
Aragorn is not half Elf, although he is a descendant of Elros, who is half Elf (and the brother of Elrond, the half-Elf who raised him), which explains why Aragorn's life span is unusually long.
She was a royal Elf of both the Noldor and the Teleri, being a grandchild of both King Finwë and King Olwë. She was also close kin of King Ingwë of the Vanyar through her grandmother Indis. Galadriel was a leader during the rebellion of the Noldor, and present in their flight from Valinor during the First Age.
Unlike Elrond, Galadriel is all Elf, and in fact she is a grand-daughter of one of the very first Elves created.
Legolas was portrayed by Orlando Bloom. In the "official movie guide" for The Lord of the Rings, a birthdate for Legolas is set to 87 of the Third Age. This would make him 2931 years old at the time of the War of the Ring. This date for Legolas' birth was made up by the movie writers.
In Tolkien's Middle-earth the Elves were generally stronger and faster than the Orcs; the Orcs usually only won through deceit and weight of numbers. So in this respect the “Hobbit” movies (and the “Lord of the Rings” films) are probably being faithful to Tolkien's idea of the comparative strengths of Elves and Orcs.
Gandalf's age is impossible to determine, but he's likely existed for at least 10,000 years, making him much older than Legolas.
Gandalf was one of only five wizards in Middle-earth, also known by the Elves as the Istari. The Istari were "angelic spirits" sent by the Valar (almost like gods) in the Third-age to aid Men and Elves in their struggle against Sauron.
As one of the Maiar, Gandalf was not a mortal Man but an angelic being who had taken human form. As one of those spirits, Olórin was in service to the Creator (Eru Ilúvatar) and the Creator's 'Secret Fire'.
His prowess with a bow was unmatched among the Fellowship and, as J.R.R. Tolkien stated himself, Legolas was “endowed with the tremendous vitality of Elvish bodies,” as well as an inability to feel terrible hurts, which made it easy for him to travel long distances over rough terrain in only light shoes.
Gil-galad. Gil-galad was the final High King of the Oldor in Middle Earth. He was crucial in the Last Alliance of Elves and Men's victory over Sauron.
Legolas, on the other hand, is an elf from Middle-earth who was part of The Fellowship in Lord of the Rings. He is not as powerful or wise as a High Elf but he still has some impressive skills such as archery and swordsmanship which make him an invaluable member of The Fellowship.
Arwen is one of the half-elven who lived during the Third Age; her father was Elrond half-elven, lord of the Elvish sanctuary of Rivendell, while her mother was the Elf Celebrian, daughter of the Elf-queen Galadriel, ruler of Lothlórien.
Moon elves, also known as Teu-tel-quessir in their own language or as silver elves are the most common of all the eladrin subraces. More tolerant of humans than other eladrin, moon elves are the ancestors of most half-eladrin.
There are no Black Elves. There are no Latino Elves” in the "Lord of the Rings," such trolls typically try to hide their hatred by arguing that such casting dishonors the source material.
After he was attacked by the orcs, they transported his lifeless body to Mordor at Sauron's behest. Sauron revived Isildur with one of the nine rings, and then tortured him until his spirit was broken and he became a Nazgûl.
The Elves felt compelled to leave Middle-earth because the Valar (deities of Tolkien's world) were spiritually summoning them to their ultimate destinies. The Valar saw the Elves as a race above the others, and thought that they would fare better if they lived in the Blessed Realm (also known as Aman) with the Valar.
Elrond Half-elven is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. Both of his parents, Eärendil and Elwing, were half-elven, having both Men and Elves as ancestors.
