Harry Potter was almost sorted into Slytherin, but he pleaded with the Sorting Hat to place him in Gryffindor instead, which it did, recognizing his choice and bravery. The Hat saw potential for greatness in Slytherin due to Harry's cunning and ambition, and possibly sensed the piece of Voldemort's soul within him, but Harry's strong preference for Gryffindor, where his parents were, ultimately decided his fate.
Dumbledore noted that all of these were qualities possessed by Harry Potter, who was a Gryffindor but was almost placed in Slytherin.
The Sorting Hat appeared to have a difficult time in the sorting of Harry Potter. It suggested that Harry would have great fame and glory by joining Slytherin House, as Harry possessed Slytherin qualities such as cunning and determination. Harry requested specifically to be spared that fate.
Hufflepuff is often considered the worst house at Hogwarts because it hasn't contributed as much to magic as other houses, except for a few exceptions like Newt Scamander. Hufflepuffs are known for their hard work but it rarely leads to major magical discoveries.
Her style is more focused and disciplined, while Ravenclaws frequently stand out for originality and thinking outside the box. Moreover, the Sorting Hat sensed something in Hermione beyond her intelligence: her immense courage and determination to do what is right, even if it means breaking the rules.
Hufflepuffs are just and loyal and Ron probably encompasses those characteristics less than any other character. We can see the loyalty waiver when he cuts off Harry in Goblet of Fire, and when he leaves Harry and Hermione in Deathly Hallows.
Albus Severus wanted to seperate himself from his father's legacy, and being in Slytherin really helped with that. And from a out of universe writing standpoint, the creators likely wanted to erase the misconception that Slytherin is an evil house full of awful people and show more positive examples of good Slytherins.
People say the Most Forgotten House is Hufflepuff, but people pay so much attention to it BECAUSE they think it's forgotten. In the end it's Ravenclaw. Slytherin are the main antagonists in HP (typically) to be forgotten.
The Gryffindors think Slytherins aren't noble, which doesn't help.
Hufflepuffs are just the most humble of all the houses and don't feel the need to shout about their achievements in the same way as the others.
And, naturally, J.K. Rowling herself is a Gryffindor.
There isn't a single character consistently mentioned exactly 432 times, as mention counts vary by analysis, but it's a number often associated with significant but secondary figures or specific discussions about character frequency, potentially pointing towards someone like Professor Vector or a deep-dive analysis detail on a fan site or quiz, but Harry is the most mentioned overall.
Slytherin doesn't only accept Pureblood, for example Snape and Tom Riddle. And there are clues that there are even some muggleborn there. Also whatever Salazar Slytherin may have wanted, he left. The hat is still here but sort people who would do well there, not necessarily people Salazar would have liked.
Ron began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1991 and was Sorted into Gryffindor House. He soon became close friends with fellow student Harry Potter and later Hermione Granger.
The canon Slytherin boys of the marauders era are Snape, Mulciber, Avery, Rosier and Wilkes who all hung out together. And then Regulus who is not named as being friendly with any of these boys (possibly because he is younger). Snape we know.
Neville felt intimidated by Gryffindor's reputation for bravery. During the Sorting Ceremony, he silently argued for a long time to be placed in Hufflepuff, but the Sorting Hat won in the end, and Sorted him into Gryffindor.
Unfortunately, out of all the Hogwarts houses, Hufflepuff has gotten the most amount of flack, with Draco Malfoy even threatening to leave Hogwarts for good if he was sorted into the worst Hogwarts house. Whether it's the name or the house traits themselves, Hufflepuffs tend to be looked down upon or easily dismissed.

In 1943, Tom Riddle, the "Heir of Slytherin", opened the Chamber of Secrets to conduct a purge on Muggle-born students. This resulted in the death of Myrtle Warren, who eventually returned as a ghost. Riddle opened the Chamber again in 1993 through the use of one of his seven Horcruxes, his diary.

The most hated house | Fandom. Gryffindor is the most hated house, simply because Harry Potter was in it. Everybody dislikes Gryffindor, because it was the main characters house, and people don't want for others to see them as ones who want to be in Gryffindor because of Harry.
At the end before Harry goes to get the stone, Hermione says "Books, cleverness, there are far more important things like bravery". Something to that extent. She may have been very brainy, but she valued Gryfindor's attributes more than Ravenclaws.
Albus was named in memory of Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape, two former headmasters of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and both great wizards that his father knew. In 2017, Albus began his education at Hogwarts with Rose Granger-Weasley and Scorpius Malfoy and was sorted into Slytherin House.
These are Slytherin traits but when push came to shove, Percy stood alongside his family and fought for what was right. The Sorting Hat has Legillemency, and most likely saw the bravery in Percy, so placed him in Gryffindor.
From Harry potter and the cursed child Harry and Ginny have three children. Lily Luna Potter was sorted into Gryffindor as was expected. She didn't take long for the sorting hat to decide on and it was as easy as that. Albus Severus Potter was sorted into Slytherin, much to his own dismay.
