People are held back from success by internal barriers like fear (of failure, judgment, or success itself), self-sabotaging mindsets (perfectionism, self-doubt, negative thinking, procrastination, envy, lack of discipline), and external factors (toxic environments, poor health, lack of continuous learning) that prevent growth, action, and resilience, often stemming from a belief they aren't good enough or deserving of success.
Fear. If you're afraid of failing, you're most likely fearful to act. Fear is only the mind's way of saying that there's something important for you to overcome, so don't allow it to stand in the way of your success. Risks and dangers are real, but fear is a choice.
Many of us have habits, behaviors, and beliefs that hold us back from being who we want to be. The most common ones are avoidance, having negative habits or attracting negative people. Once we recognize our obstacles, we have the opportunity to change.
It is my view that to be a success we need to have 5 D's. They are Determination, Dedication, Discipline, Diversity and Direction.

The 3 Obstacles To Your Success That Aren't Obstacles At All
The 3-3-3 rule for habits is a milestone system: the first 3 days are the hardest (start small), the next 3 weeks build momentum (stay consistent), and the following 3 months solidify the behavior into a lifestyle, making it second nature, reports Psychology Today and Facebook, YouTube].
The most common reason for holding back is saying that you don't have time. True, you have a lot on your plate; from the work that puts food on your table, to family and any other activities. Every day, you wake up saying you will work on your dreams, but really do nothing about it.
Small differences in performance can lead to very unequal distributions when repeated over time. This is yet another reason why habits are so important.
When we think about success, we usually think of tangible resources like skills, finances, or connections. But more often than not, the greatest barrier to success isn't a lack of resources; it's the inability to wait, grow, and trust the process.
The seven secrets are having clear written goals, making detailed plans, intense focus on results, creativity/imagination, continuous learning, positive thinking, and persistence.
High expectations – Stop expecting so much. It's a destructive behaviour that can bring disappointment in your life. You expect things to turn out in a certain way, you expect people to behave like you imagine them to, and whenever that doesn't work out, you feel upset and lose any motivation to act.

“Use the 21/90 rule: It takes 21 days to create a habit. It takes 90 days to create a lifestyle.” Often, people try something for a week or so, feel uncomfortable, and give it up. This can even be things they know will help them get what they want most.

Fear of success and/or failure
Such people lack belief in themselves and in their potential. In their mind, if they fail, everyone will think negatively of them. And if they succeed, people will be envious and think negatively of them. So it becomes a lose-lose situation no matter how they look at it.
Many years ago, when I posed this burning question to one of my first mentors, Dr. Chuck White, he wisely informed me of the three A's of success: ability, availability, and amiability, which don't necessarily rank in that order of importance.

The 4 A's of Success is a concept that emphasizes the importance of asking questions, having a positive attitude, taking action, and being accountable.
We all know individuals who lack great knowledge and skill, yet their attitude, their desire, serves them, even drive them, as they methodically overcome the obstacles before them. The real power comes from possessing all three sides of the “triangle of success”. The three sides are knowledge, skills, and attitude.
