All our gold jewellery is stamped with a capital “G” for gold, followed by the purity, stated as pure gold parts per thousand in the gold alloy: 14k: G585 (58.5% pure gold) or 18k: G750 (75% pure gold). The quality marks on Pandora jewellery manufactured before June 2011 only contain numbers, not letters.

Oxidation and plating on 14k Gold-Plated Collection jewelry fades naturally over time; this is normal wear and tear and should not be considered a defect. How quickly this happens is related to how the jewelry is cared for. Perspiration, chlorine, perfume and cleaning agents can all cause oxidation to fade faster.
We also recommend that you do not wear your jewellery whilst bathing, whilst in bed or during sporting activities. Always undo the clasp to remove your bracelet. We recommend the use of our clips to distribute the charm weight into 3 equal sections.
Being exposed to moisture, skin and the air causes a chemical reaction that gradually over time, oxidizes the silver metal turning it from shiny silver, to a light yellow/silver color. If you do not properly clean your pieces after this occurs, that yellow coloring will again gradually turn to black.
We recommend that customers remove their Pandora jewelry before going to bed, showering, swimming or participating in physical activity. Your jewelry must not be exposed to chlorine or salt water, as this will dull the appearance.
Acid test.
An acid test can reveal the karat of solid gold jewelry, but it can also show whether jewelry is solid gold or gold-plated. With an acid test, a small sample of the jewelry is removed and exposed to acid to induce a color change. The resulting colors indicate which type of metal the jewelry is made of.

It is normal for the finishing to wear off over time. PANDORA's warranty does not cover this wear and tear. With proper care and maintenance, the plating of PANDORA ShineTM will last a long time. However, it is impossible to put an exact time on this, as it depends on how the jewelry is worn and the care exhibited.
Jewelry should be stored away from natural sunlight and heat, in a protective (lined) jewelry box or a tarnish-resistant pouch. It can also be stored in a plastic zip lock bag made of Mylar or polyethylene.
