Is Grogu Yoda? According to the events of "The Mandalorian" so far, Grogu and Yoda are not the same character. They are simply from the same species. The name of this species has never been revealed since "Star Wars" creator George Lucas wanted to give Yoda a sense of mystery.
Grogu appears to be the youngest known member of Yoda's species. He is only 50 years old, and he is still developmentally an infant. For the whole first season of The Mandalorian™, they referred to him only as the Child. It seems that the species is, for whatever reason, quite slow to age.
Basically, Grogu is either the illicit love child of Yoda and Yaddle, was conceived by the Force, or was conceived by same unnamed individuals from Yoda's species.

Grogu was rediscovered by a remnant of the Galactic Empire after it fell, and became known to many simply as "The Child," during the New Republic Era. However Grogu was rescued by Din Djarin, a Mandalorian bounty hunter where he became a foundling.

While fans don't know the state of Grogu's well-being in the sequel trilogy, his ties to Mandalore might explain why Kylo Ren doesn't kill him. It's likely Grogu stays with Din Djarin and the Mandalorians, and never returns to embark on his training with Luke.
Who Saved Grogu From Order 66? As depicted in "Chapter 20: The Foundling," Grogu was rescued from the attack on the Jedi Temple by Jedi Master Kelleran Beq. Beq completed the daring escape that got Grogu to safety, then escaped the attack with his life.

When Incinerator troopers try to burn down the Mandalorian and his team, Grogu is able to block and redirect the flames. He is powerful enough to keep his team safe and ultimately unharmed. But his force barriers extend even beyond that.
Yoda claims to have been training Jedi for 800 years. The second time Yoda mentions his long life is in Return of the Jedi, when he tells Luke, “When you reach 900 years old, you will not look as good as you will.” If we take Yoda at his word, that means the Jedi Master died at the ripe old age of 900.

Those who have watched The Book of Boba Fett would know that Grogu abandoned his Jedi training to travel across the galaxy with his father figure. Unfortunately, those, who haven't watched the spinoff series, are left bewildered, unsure of how the two characters were reunited.
