Basic Training Family Day typically lasts from mid-morning (around 9-10 AM after a short ceremony) until around 8 PM, allowing soldiers to leave the installation with family for on-base activities or designated off-post areas (rules vary by branch/post), but they must return by the stated time, usually 8 PM, though it's wise to plan for 7:30 PM to avoid traffic and issues. It's the day before graduation, and while they can't leave post during the actual graduation ceremony, Family Day offers significant liberty.
Family Day: The Reunion

You cannot receive phone calls at BCT, but you are required to call your family within 72 hours of your arrival. Your family can use the Red Cross or the IADT Coordinator for emergencies, and they can send mail and care packages. However, there are no visits permitted during BCT until Graduation Day.
Typically, on Family Day, Graduating Soldiers are granted a one day, on-post pass for the afternoon. During this time, visitors may leave post and re-enter. However, your soldier cannot go off-post with you and must remain on the installation in accordance with the guidance given by their unit.
Um on Sundays, you will have access to your phone. Uh they will allow you to make sure that you know, you're paying bills. If you have bills back home, talking to your loved ones, checking in on your kids, all of the above. So, cellphones are definitely in the abundance right now.
