Later in the year, McGonagall duelled with Death Eater Alecto Carrow during the Battle in the Astronomy Tower and later learned of Snape's murder of Dumbledore. McGonagall was initially appointed as Headmistress, but was demoted after Voldemort took control of the school and placed Snape as Headmaster.
Actually every one were very much aware about the plan to keep Harry safe, but no one really knew the extent to which Snape is on that plan. So, Dumbledore kept it secret because he thought it is essential for the safety of Harry Potter.
Because Minerva was his friend and they were fighting on the same side (even though she didn't know). So, even when Minerva was duelling to kill, he wasn't, and if he had kept on fighting he might have been forced to hurt her. He deflected every attack quite easily, even when Flitwick joined the fight.

Snape's fierce devotion to and love of his childhood friend Lily, Harry's mother, is the foundation of that loyalty. After Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Snape's loyalty was a matter of intense debate among the fans.
The acclaimed author explained that Harry paid tribute to Snape because of "forgiveness and gratitude." Though Snape bullied Harry, he also saved him.

Sure McGonagle is more trustworthy in the traditional sense when it comes to her job but Snape was more trustworthy to be triple agent. Snape was more inscrutable. He had the dirt on Snape (he could dangle his feelings towards Lily to get him to agree to anything). Snape could play a double agent more convincingly.
Because Snape ran away from their fight. OK, he flew away. The point is, he retreated rather than finish the fight. Professor McGonagall didn't know all the details, just that someone she had patiently waited all year for the chance to beat his ass didn't even give her the satisfaction of a proper duel.
If at full capacity, defending everything she held dear, the new Headmistress McGonagall was unable to defeat Snape. It suggested the latter was the more powerful professor.
“You disgust me,” said Dumbledore, and Harry had never heard so much contempt in his voice. Snape seemed to shrink a little, “You do not care, then, about the deaths of her husband and child? They can die, as long as you have what you want?” Snape said nothing, but merely looked up at Dumbledore.
Draco had several reasons for lying to Bellatrix, including the fact that he was never a bad person. Moreover, he no longer found working for the Dark Lord appealing and hated how Voldemort treated his family. He did not intend to harm anyone and believed Harry was the only person capable of defeating Voldemort.
Why didn't Dumbledore tell Snape about the Elder Wand so Snape could break it before Voldemort found it? The answer is simple: It was far too risky for Severus Snape to be aware of both the Hallows and the Horcruxes.

However, the prophecy went on to say that Voldemort would mark the child as his equal, choosing the boy that he believed would be the most dangerous to him. Dumbledore believes Voldemort chose Harry because Harry was a half-blood, just like Voldemort.

This betrayal had the biggest damage in the series as it made Harry an orphan, sealed Sirius in Azkaban for twelve years, and led to all the deaths shown in the future when the Wizarding War resumed.
Snape, in his insults directed to her, always called her an insufferable know-it-all and targeted her intelligence, but maybe she was insufferable to him because she constantly reminded him of Lily and her know-it-all habits.
So Snape was cruel, biased towards his house, and downright rude to his students: this we can't deny. Calling poor Hermione an 'insufferable know-it-all', for example, was pretty terrible.
McGonagall followed up Harry's action by using the Imperius Curse on Amycus before tying him up with a net, rendering him useless during the Battle of Hogwarts.
Weaknesses. McGonagall is never portrayed as having any particular weaknesses. Her stern facade likely prevents anyone from getting close to her emotionally, with the possible exception of Dumbledore. We are led to believe that she prefers her solitude.
the 13th and final instance. at least by my count of Severus Snape helping save Harry. is when he shares his memories with him before dying near the end of the Deathly Hallows. these memories not only absolve Snape of his guilt in the death of Dumbledore.
Now, as firmly established, Snape was not the greatest fan of Harry, but that didn't mean that he ever stopped loving Lily. Dumbledore was surprised that Snape seemed to care for the boy. With a swish of his wand, Snape conjured up a Patronus – Lily's Patronus, a doe. 'Always,' he said.
