If your dog is throwing up, but still acting otherwise normal, it's possible that your pet has either chronic gastritis (inflammation of the stomach) or food indiscretion. Food indiscretion in dogs is very common when they get so excited about eating that they eat too fast or too much, and some of it comes back out.
Dog vomiting may be caused by poor canine judgment, also known as dietary indiscretion, and may not be much cause for concern. However, vomiting can also be a symptom of serious or even life-threatening conditions that require emergency medical attention and should be diagnosed and treated by a veterinarian.

Dark brown vomit is more concerning.
Digested blood may appear dark brown or have the appearance of coffee granules mixed in with the vomit. This could indicate bleeding within your dog's intestines.
A bright green- or teal-colored vomit suggests your dog ate mouse or rat poison, and you should seek immediate medical advice from your veterinarian or animal poison control center. Quantity: A dog who has gulped down a large bowl of water or dog food too quickly will regurgitate a large volume of material.

Vomiting or Diarrhea
If your dog vomits three or more times over a period of eight hours, you should be worried. If there is any blood in either, you should take your dog to the vet immediately.
Dogs with pancreatitis can vomit yellow bile after eating a fatty or oily meal. These types of dogs should avoid fatty foods because they cause inflammation in the pancreas that can result in vomiting bile. It can also result in stomach pain and diarrhea for up to a few days after eating the food.
Usually, it's regurgitation. Your dog may have eaten too much, too fast, or they may be suffering from stress. Megaesophagus is also a possibility, so you'll want to check with your vet to be sure. If your dog is vomiting, it usually happens at least a few minutes after your dog has eaten.

Symptoms of Parvo

What Does Parvo Vomit Smell Like? Many people find that parvo vomit smells stronger than other types of dog vomit. It can smell foul and may even have an iron-like odor if there is blood present in it. This isn't always the case though, and it is not diagnostic for parvovirus, but can be seen commonly in these animals.
If your dog's vomit is slimy or mucus-like it might be because they've been drooling excessively and the drool has then pooled in their stomach. Typically this will look clear in appearance. This can be indicative of a major irritation, so if the slimy vomit persists, you should consult a veterinarian.
Symptoms caused by swallowed poisons can include: vomiting, diarrhoea, agitation and heart issues. Inhaled toxins may cause breathing difficulties or loss of consciousness in dogs. If your dog's skin comes in contact with a poisonous substance typical symptoms include irritation and pain.
Clinical signs of poisoning in a dog may include: Gastrointestinal signs: vomiting, diarrhea, extreme salivation, loss of appetite, and nausea or dry heaving. Internal bleeding: indicated by pale gums, a racing heart, coughing up or vomiting blood, weakness or lethargy, or a dog's falling over or collapsing.
