Your grey paint looks lilac because of its hidden undertones (often red or blue mixing with the grey) interacting with your room's lighting (natural and artificial) and surrounding colors, causing shifts towards purple; this phenomenon, called metamerism, makes colors appear different under varying conditions. Warm-toned grays with red/orange undertones, especially, can lean purple in cooler natural light or when next to contrasting decor, while poor surface prep or old paint can also affect perception.
Gray has three undertones. It's either blue, green or violet. And this is why your gray wall might look blue, green or purple, because you missed the undertone before you painted the walls.
Gray can have three different undertones: green, blue, and purple. This means gray is inherently a “cool” color. An “undertone” is just that: the color that's kind of hiding behind the color you see. These undertones have to play nicely with the other undertones in a room.
What makes Agreeable Gray look purple? Agreeable Gray has a splash of violet undertones that can cause the shade to shift and look purplish in certain qualities of light.
Gray is tougher than you think, isn't it? You could add some orange to take away the bluish tint for the second coat. Also, orange accessories would help neutralize the blue undertone.
Shampoo is your best friend! Increase your wash frequency to gradually break down the blue pigment over multiple sessions. Blue dye molecules, especially darker blues, can be quite tenacious and may fade more slowly than other fashion colors, but consistent washing will help them release over time.
Pebble Grey is also in the cool grey paint family. It does not have Whirlwind's subtle hint of blue, so it can be incorporated into any color scheme. For a nature-inspired scheme, try grouping Pebble Grey with cream shades and wood finishes.
Lavender Grey is a pale blue based purple with a small measure of black to add a smoky grey undertone. Lavender Grey is listed as one of the three key shades of the hue in 'The Dictionary of Colour' during the 1930s and due to its sense of refinement and mystery, its star is rising again.

Mustard yellow and grey is an influential colour scheme if you are looking to decorate a small room that doesn't receive a lot of light. Moody and atmospheric, the marrying of these darker shades creates a space that feels expensive and opulent.
There is a vast array of colours that work well with grey. Most yellows will warm up a grey room, and there's a fantastic choice of shades, from soft ochre greys through to mustard and rich gold tones. Deep greens and grey make a perfect pairing, too, creating an earthy, organic tone in the room.
BENJAMIN MOORE COLLINGWOOD OC 28
Aside from its gorgeous purple undertone, another reason Collingwood is such a popular shade of gray is because of its LRV of 62, which sits RIGHT in my happy place.

When not to use Agreeable Gray? This greige color can look fleshy in a room with low or cool North facing light. We do not recommend that color in a room with low natural light. Don't use Agreeable Gray in the same space as creamy white colors or cool grays with violet undertones, such as Repose Gray.
Repose Gray is a gray with greige and faint purple undertones. This color won't brighten up a very dark room; however, when it is painted in a light room, its warmer undertones add depth.
