Russian sources maintain that there were 4.1 million famine deaths in the regions occupied by Germany. Russian sources also report 2.5 to 3.2 million Soviet civilians who died due to famine and disease in non-occupied territory of the USSR, which was caused by wartime shortages in the rear areas.
The most important factor in swaying the Soviets eventually to enter into an alliance with the United States was the Nazi decision to launch its invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941.
Unsurprisingly, poorly equipped and poor leadership resulted in Russian defeat. Many troops lacked boots, bedding, ammunition and weapons. Their officers told those without a rifle to get a rifle from dead Russian soldiers—which was not good for morale. Russia had no real military strategy.
Denmark and Norway
Denmark surrendered on the day it was invaded. British and French troops fought briefly in Norway, but engaged too late.
Then, saying "It is finished, goodbye", Hitler took Eva back into their rooms for the last time. During the afternoon Hitler shot himself and Eva took the poison capsule that he had given her.
Military commanders took advice from medical staff and were much more pragmatic. They realised that providing condoms would prevent sexually transmitted diseases and maintain manpower levels. Military personnel also used the condoms to keep sand out of gun barrels, which saved time when they cleaned their weapons.

After the fall of France Hitler ordered plans to be drawn up for an invasion of the Soviet Union. He intended to destroy what he saw as Stalin's 'Jewish Bolshevist' regime and establish Nazi hegemony.
Japan won a convincing victory over Russia, becoming the first Asian power in modern times to defeat a European power.
He greeted the war's outbreak on 2 August with enthusiasm, and tried to enlist in the Imperial German Army two days after the conflict's start. However, he was initially sent away as the military had no need for more volunteers at the time. On 16 August, he was ordered to report at Munich's recruit depot.
Hitler pledged to restore prosperity, create civil order (by crushing industrial strikes and street demonstrations by communists and socialists), eliminate the influence of Jewish financiers, and make the fatherland once again a world power.
Mussolini was deposed following the invasion of Sicily in 1943, and Italy formally changed sides and joined the Allies later that year, though Rome would not be liberated until June 1944.
The Russian leader's reaction was calm and surprisingly emotionless. “Pity we couldn't take him alive. Where's Hitler's corpse?” Stalin asked. Zhukov replied that Krebs had informed him the body had been burned.
Assuming you were not a male of military draft age, the safest countries were likely the USA and New Zealand. No part of NZ was ever attacked, and indeed it was likely too far for the Japanese to reach unless they would risk their carriers so close to land held by an allied force.

The Russian Armed Forces are the world's fifth largest military force, with about one million active-duty personnel and close to two million reservists.
German Defeat at Stalingrad. After months of fierce fighting and heavy casualties, German forces (numbering now only about 91,000 surviving soldiers) surrender at Stalingrad on the Volga. Soviet forces launched a counteroffensive against the Germans arrayed at Stalingrad in mid-November 1942.

'Bad' girls have always known how to look after themselves. Barrier methods were always very popular. A halved, emptied lemon skin placed over the cervix worked well, for example, as did sponges soaked in natural spermicides such as vinegar.
By the end of the war, approximately 7,000 of the 10,500 SIS staff were female. These women on the home front contributed to the Allied victory by successfully breaking codes and deciphering enemy messages. The women cryptologists were held to strict secrecy and would become one of the best-kept secrets of WWII.
The Elsan 'chemical closet' was used by soldiers in the Army and Navy during World War II. This was an early version of a portable chemical toilet.
