Jack got sick in Supernatural because Lucifer stole his angel grace, which was essential for balancing his human and angelic halves; without it, his cells began attacking each other, causing a fatal condition known as "angelic cancer," a slow deterioration that nearly killed him until he received a partial cure through a soul-powered spell and eventually gained God's power.
After Dean returned, Jack went on a case with him and did very well but his illness finally took hold. It was discovered because his grace kept his body intact, Jack's body couldn't sustain without it and he was dying.
During the episode, Jack's strange cough persists. At the end, Jack coughs up blood in front of Dean before suddenly collapsing, bleeding from his nose and mouth. Rowena determines that Jack's condition is a result of his human and angel sides attacking each other without his grace maintaining a balance.
Jack's appendix got infected. So the question is, just like for Ben's tumor, how did this happen? John's back is healed on the island; Rose's cancer…
While fan opinions vary, Season 7 (Leviathans) and Season 12 (British Men of Letters/Mary's return) are frequently cited as the worst or weakest Supernatural seasons due to their disjointed plots, uninteresting villains, and disruptive changes to the established lore, with Season 8 also having a lower Rotten Tomatoes score. Season 7's Leviathans struggled to maintain tension, while Season 12's storyline undoing Mary's death felt like a regression for many fans, disrupting the core story, according to The Mary Sue and Collider.
Supernatural fans often point to the end of Season 5 (when the original five-season arc concluded) or Season 8 as a turning point, with many feeling the show declined as it introduced more angels, Heaven, and repetitive plots, moving from horror to more action/comedy, making the later seasons, particularly post-Season 11, feel less cohesive and impactful, though some still enjoyed it for the characters, notes.
The most controversial Supernatural episodes often spark debate, with fans citing "Carry On" (the series finale) for its polarizing ending, "Bloodlines" (S9, E20) for a widely panned backdoor pilot and lore retcons, and episodes like "Fan Fiction" (S10, E5) and "Dog Dean Afternoon" (S9, E18) for being either loved or hated for their unique, meta concepts, while some consider "The French Mistake" (S6, E15) a brilliant meta-episode that others dislike.
The power apparently is determined by the order of birth so going by that, Gabriel is in fact the weakest of them.
However, the saddest and most painful death to take place in Supernatural is in the very last episode, when Dean dies for the final time. After spending years fighting side by side with his brother, the pair finally put the world to rights.
To Sam and Dean's shock, Jack reveals that eating the angel hearts were just the beginning in Billie's plan to make him strong enough to kill God. Billie later brings Jack the second part of the plan to kill God -- locate the Occultum which restores Jack's lost human soul.
The Light, also known as God and by his alias Chuck Shurley, is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside the Shadow) of the Supernatural franchise. He is the arch-nemesis of Sam and Dean Winchester.
Despite his words and his anger over Jack killing his mother, Dean's love for Jack was strong enough for Dean to spare Jack's life and mourn Jack's death when God killed him moments later. After Jack's death, Dean proved to be the most willing to work with the demon Belphegor who used Jack's corpse as his vessel.
Mark Sheppard aka Crowley left the show after 7 years. Nothing was ever confirmed but rumors are he left due to pay disputes aka reduced salary, and/or because he was frustrated with the way Crowley had been handled long-term, creatively.
Big reveal for Supernatural fans! The series finale hints Sam's wife might be Eileen Leahy, as intended by showrunner Andrew Dabb, though her face stays blurred. Filming during COVID-19 kept Shoshannah Stern away, leaving it open to interpretation. Sam lives a full life with a son named Dean, sparking fan debates.
After a soulless Jack kills Nick for trying to resurrect Lucifer, he accidentally kills Mary in a brief fit of rage. Mary is reunited with her husband in Heaven and is now at peace in a shared Heaven with John.
With the Winchesters and Castiel trapped in a crypt, Belphegor makes his presence known by taking possession of Jack's lifeless, blinded body. As he tries to formally introduce himself, Castiel, angry that he is defiling Jack's body by possessing it, demands that he leave.
In the final episode, Sam and Dean Winchester on one final hunting case, that goes completely wrong. Dean is killed by a vampire, and gets impaled on a nail during the fight. Dean tells Sam to let him go, and he dies, as Sam breaks down in tears.

John leaves Dean a note with the coordinates 35 and 111, presumably meaning 35 degrees north latitude, 111 degrees west longitude. Sam reads a map and says the place is in Colorado. In fact these coordinates are in Arizona, very close to Meteor Crater; the nearest town is Winslow.
Background. Gadreel was once God's most trusted angel. He was stationed by God at the Garden to protect it from evil.
Definitely Azazel. Cas couldn't even handle Alastair and he was weaker than Azazel.
Weapons. Archangel Blades - An archangel's blade, when wielded by an archangel, can kill Lucifer. Even when super-charged with his son's grace and with the power to unravel and remake the universe, Lucifer still remained vulnerable to an archangel blade as he remained an archangel, albeit super-charged.
Jensen Ackles calls "Death's Door" his favorite Supernatural episode, and it's easy to see why.
Sam suffered more physically and psychologically. Dean suffered more emotionally. It's true since you consider Sam stayed in hell longer and was much worse hell than Dean's. He was also manipulated by demons since he was 6 months old.
Lucifer is the most recurring Big Bad in the series. Naomi, The Darkness and God are the only antagonists not to have been killed.
