Swelling: Don't worry, it's only temporary. After a rhinoplasty procedure, don't be surprised if your smile is temporarily affected by post-operative swelling. The effect is temporary and your smile will return to normal after the initial swelling has dissipated. This may take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks.
Often patients who undergo rhinoplasty in Toronto find that the lips and smile may seem different after a rhinoplasty. This is because sometimes, when extensive work is done, the muscles that are responsible for pulling up the upper lip when you smile, are temporarily weakened.
As long as you are not forcefully blowing your nose at two weeks (after 3 weeks is OK) or doing anything very strenuous for another week or so, you can safely smile all you want without any concern at all! The soreness you experience when your facial muscles animate as you smile will gradually go away.

Smiling and laughing 2 weeks after a Rhinoplasty should not have any impact on the final result.
For the first two weeks following surgery, avoid pursing the lips as in whistling, applying lipstick, kissing, or sucking on a straw. Allowing the nose to heal with as little movement as possible will improve both your cosmetic and functional results.
A rhinoplasty can potentially affect your smile, but this side effect is often temporary and barely perceptible. In many cases at our Newport Beach office, a change in the smile is associated with modifications to the tip.
Avoid constant “sniffing”, that is, constantly forcibly attempting to pull air through the nose as some people do when their nose feels blocked. This will not relieve the sensation of blockage; it will only aggravate it because the suction created on the inside will cause more swelling.
When you cry after rhinoplasty, your nasal muscles shrink, and the tears from your eyes enter the nasal canal. This increases the chances of infection and prolongs the recovery time. Crying after a nose job can also significantly increase discomfort and cause complications.

And this goes for kissing babies, children, or even pets for six weeks after surgery.
Touching or bumping your nose
Nonetheless, it's not a good idea to poke, push, or touch your nose during the healing process. This may misalign the nasal tissues, hurt, or even undo the results accomplished from the nose job surgery.
Swelling and unactualized results may make your nose seem too big, too short, look the same as it did before, look fat, or feel weird after rhinoplasty. This can lead to post-rhinoplasty depression – but if you let yourself heal, you will find you have options to improve your results.
After rhinoplasty surgery, your nose will be extra vulnerable as a result of the changes made to this structure. Your bones, cartilage, and surrounding tissues will be more fragile as they heal, sometimes for up to a year after surgery.
Rhinoplasty Results After one Month (4 Weeks)
People look very good at 1-month. There is little evidence that the patient had any surgery at that point. Again, remember your nose at 1 month is very good, at 2 months it is even better.
Many rhinoplasty patients feel more confident, self-assured, and generally happier about their quality of life.
Limit facial muscle movements — This sounds obvious, but during your recovery you need to limit things such as laughing and smiling (only ask boring friends to stop by! No comedians on Netflix.). Be careful not to open your mouth too wide (yawning is a no-no).
Don't sneeze or cough forcefully
Sneezing and coughing forcefully after rhinoplasty can cause a buildup of pressure in the nose, which could lead to bleeding. It's best not to sneeze or cough for 14 days following surgery.
The result of rhinoplasty is usually satisfactory at the end of the operation, but four to six weeks later we unfortunately observe that the tip occasionally droops.
Another piece of research involved evaluators grading rhinoplasty patients attractiveness before and after surgery. These cosmetic and surgery experts agreed that aesthetic rhinoplasty leads to increased facial beautification. So, in short, yes, a nose job is worth it.
“I have seen many patients who regret the whole operation and want to go back to exactly their original nose,” said Uppal. Several celebrities have expressed regret at their rhinoplasties, in fact.
In most patients, it takes roughly 6 weeks for the bones in your nose to heal following surgery. During this time, you should avoid strenuous exercise. Even movements that seem harmless like stretching, lifting, or bending over can increase nasal swelling.
At the three-to-four month mark, most patients feel their results are complete enough that they feel comfortable and happy posing for things like wedding pictures and senior portraits. It can, however, take up to a year or longer for your nose to settle completely into its new shape and position.
Answer: Does yelling affect the long term results of my nose job? This will not affect the results of your rhinoplasty. I would recommend following up with your surgeon regarding any concerns, as they know the details of your procedure.
Taping can be effective to subside the swelling and shrink the skin down. It doesn't, however, affect the shape and form of the nose.
