They were given an official number in the franchise line-up based on the chronological order in which their films were released, starting with Snow White as the first and original Disney Princess, with Cinderella being the second, followed by Aurora and so on.
Official Disney Princess List. Originally, there were eight official Disney princesses included in the line-up: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, and Mulan. Today, there are twelve princesses in total, eleven from Walt Disney Animation Studios, and one from Pixar.
1937: Snow White

Princess Aurora
Aurora is probably the quietest of all the princesses, with only around 18 lines of dialogue in her own film, Sleeping Beauty, released in 1959. She's known for two things: her looks and her ability to sleep through pretty much anything, both of which might not be the best skills for the top job.
In the film, Li Shang falls in love with Mulan after she enters the army disguised as a male soldier named Ping. Queer fans have always claimed Li Shang as one of their own because of his close, loving relationship with both Ping and Mulan, even though Disney has never commented on the Chinese army general's sexuality.
Sometime later, Mulan and Shang officially marry in Mulan's village, and Mushu accepts the loss of his position; however, Shang combines the family temples, unknowingly enabling Mushu to continue being a guardian spirit. While celebrating, Mushu accidentally reveals himself to Shang and Mulan.
Fun fact: Mulan is born to a former soldier, not the emperor. Fun fact number two: Li Shang, who Mulan eventually marries, is a general in the Chinese military–not a prince.
Pocahontas is the only Disney princess with a tattoo.

According to Jennifer Lee, Anna is 18 years old in the film, while both Elsa and Kristoff are 21 years old and Hans is 23 years old.
Snow White was believed to be 14, and the prince was 31, but some say he was actually 18. Snow White and Prince Florian's gap is by far the most questionable among Disney couples [1].
