Zeus, in ancient Greek religion, chief deity of the pantheon, a sky and weather god who was identical with the Roman god Jupiter.
In ancient Greek mythology, Zeus was the almighty god of the sky and thunder, and king of all the gods, who resided on Mount Olympus. Meanwhile, Jupiter was essentially his Roman equivalent, who came later.
Though both Creators were gods of the sky and the leader of their respective pantheons, Zeus was much older than the god Jupiter. Also, the Roman god had lesser physical attributes than Zeus because the Roman writers were more concerned with his works than his physique.
Jupiter was the Roman King of all gods, chief of the pantheon and protector of ancient Rome. His full name says it all: Jupiter Optimus Maximus. He was also god of the sky and thunder, and carried a shining thunderbolt to represent the almighty power he could wield.
Juno was Jupiter's wife and sister. She resembled the Greek goddess Hera in that she kept a particularly watchful eye over women and all aspects of their lives.

Why is Zeus married to his sister? To hide her shame, Hera agreed to marry him. It was a violent marriage at best. Though Zeus had pursued his sister and sought to possess her by marriage, he never gave up his lusty ways.

Brihaspati as Jupiter is part of the Navagraha in the Hindu zodiac system, considered auspicious and benevolent. The word "Thursday" in the Greco-Roman and other Indo-European calendars is also dedicated to the planet Jupiter (god of sky and thunder). Their zodiac signs being nearly identical.

Perhaps partly because of the strange circumstances of her birth, Athena is often cited as Zeus's favourite child. He also greatly admired her strength of character and fighting spirit.

1. Apollo: Zeus' Best-Known Son. Of all the sons Zeus fathered, Apollo is perhaps the best known. Apollo was conceived during an illicit affair between Zeus and Leto (Zeus was married to Hera at the time), along with a twin sister named Artemis.
Athena is one of the more recognizable daughters to come from Zeus. She is one of the Twelve Olympians, sitting on the throne of the Greek Pantheon and ruling over Mount Olympus alongside her father. She was the goddess of wisdom, justice, law, and strategy. Athena was also the patron goddess of many cities.
The very foundation myth of Europe rests upon a love-trick by Jupiter. When he fell for Europa, the daughter of Agenor, the king of Tyre, the god took the form of a beautiful white bull. Approaching Europa and her friends as they played upon the sea shore, he enticed her to climb upon his back.
These four are known as the Galilean moons, though it was Marius who named them after some of Jupiter's more famous extra-marital lovers: Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto.
